Converting Radio Display Possible?

Hey i drive a 1999 Clio (Mk2 Ph1 i think) and was wondering if it is possible to convert the radio display at the top of the console so that it displays a clock instead of the radio station. I recently installed an Alpine head unit that my sister had taken out her corsa a few years ago and lost the display at the top and also the steering wheel controls and i hate how the display does nothing else so is there any way for it to be modified to display a clock?. im also thinking about buying either a Sony MEX-BT5000 or an Alpine iDA-X001 head unit in the near future will the display be compatible with these head units? because if it is then i may not bother modifying the display.

The best you can do is get a diplay module for the headunit, and all that will do is show an Alpine logo that is it. Bloody expensive in my opion and I wont really bother.

The steering wheel controls are the best purchase I had one fitted for my Sony H/U in my old clio cost about £35. To fit it you will need to take the top dash off, and directly behind the clock is a conncetor which is red, you undo this a reconnect the stalk control into its place.

The same can be done for the Sony and the later Alpine units.

lol i just disconnected my radio and clock was there, cnt say i remeber seeing it before hand, were all these cars the same in terms of display?

The clock is in the digital display anyway is'nt it? Well it is in mine...

yeh the clock is in the digital display but i want it at the top of the centre console is it at all possible? mark_clio2 did you change any wires etc?? because after disconnecting my standard head unit nothing appears
