******* Cup Spoiler!

  Looking for 182
I received my lovely arctic blue cup spoiler today. Having read numerous threads about it taking 10 mins to fit I set to work on fitting it even though it was getting dark out.

2 hours later, and the bloody thing is finally attached to my car. However, not only does it sit badly (massive gap between windscreen and spoiler, which also shows at the sides), but the brake light doesn't work.

It worked VERY briefly, it kind of half lit up and flickered and now nothing happens at all? Do you think I need to buy a new one? If so, how much is a new brake light?

Also, when fitting it, the main problem was the two connectors from the car and from the spoiler for the brake light, there was no recess or ANYTHING for it to fit into, so the spoiler is probably sitting badly because this part if blocking it from sitting tighter. Any advice on this at all?

Please help

EDIT: Oh, and icing on the cake, the washer piper is too short.

I dont really understand why it doesnt fit?

The washer pipe will reach, but its difficult and this is what kept stopping mine from seating properly. A bit of patience and poking about got it all seating properly with the washer pipe where it should be.

The break light on mine didnt work at first either, simply whipped it out, cleaned up the connectors and gave them a wiggle, worked fine ever since (been months!)

You're only going through what everyone does!

Bad fitting means it's resting on something it shouldn't be, I ended up chopping the connectors off and using the smallest connections I could to stop it - They're never the best of fits anyway..

Light you might have just been unlucky! new ones aren't too expensive - they look good to :)

Washer pipe is an easy fix.

brake lights are circa £30 iirc
my brake light wasnt working because the join between the two connection was tight once put in the recess for the connector, wiggled it about and it works great, must ahve been pullingon the wires. strange how you havent got a slight recess to put the connection in :S

For the sake of a few quid I'd get a brand new one - that could last 3 weeks or 3 years you never know..

Is it possible to remove that big bulky connector thing and just wrap the live wires up with some electrical tape?

Are they only £30 direct from Renault then?

I used tiny spade connectors, you could use tape but its not very long term!

So I could a spade connector, then just cut the wires, and use the spade connectors instead of the chunky Renault connection thing?

Does anyone know the part number for the cup spoiler brake light?

Thanks

Thanks, I've emailed some traders off here so will hopefully get this sorted shortly. For now I'll have to drive without it working, cracked, and sitting badly. Yay!

Yay! New brake light received, fitted and worked!

I also managed to get the cup spoiler sitting much better, so I am very happy. Realised one of my other brake lights was gone as well now though, haha! Typical.

LOL I've got one next to the PC here that I would of given to you for peanuts.

All that happens in them is they get water ingress that slowly, overtime, breaks down the solder joints. I could repair the old one I reckon for you to sell on?

It's in the bin as I snapped it when I removed it from the spoiler.
