CV joint?

Had a whirring noise coming from front wheel today, took the wheel off and found this snapped ad caught up. Is this the clip from the CV joint?

Just booked the car in with JMS to get it sorted but thought I'd try and confirm now if it is what I thought.

yes mate that is the clip that holds the c.v boot in place

about £1.50 for a jubilee clip

Any idea when it came off? i.e have you noticed a load of grease over the inside of the wheel at any point?

If I were you, get yourself a tub/tube of molly grease ASAP, get a jubilee clip, get some more grease inside that joint and re-clip the bloody thing!

New wheels went on the car saturday and was fine then. Noise started yesterday lunch time so I think it's literraly just happened.

fitted a jubilee clip on mine as suggested by fred, doing the job fine.
