At the end of the day i and others judge places like K-Tech by the quality of there work, for me Cable ties holding my exhaust into place Just like Renault fits them from the factory (not) = Poor.

This is not about whether we have used one or two cable ties to restrict the movement of the poor Renault mounts (which is very common practice if you would care to search). Please feel free to remove them and see how your mounts sit and I am very sorry we wanted to get your exhaust sitting correctly.

David.

PS. Its been a long day.

PPS. I would also like to add we have 2 other THE VERY BEST fully trained Renault Sport mechanics in this country working in our workshop. They never cut corners and take great pride in their work, and so they should. This is why so much great work comes out of our workshop and why we get so much good feedback and so many repeat customers.

Renault design them to fail!
What's wrong with a couple of cable ties?

I think it's fair to say that now that you've had your say - we'll leave it there.

I'd like for this to be kept on here, however

Cheers.

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

We use stainless steel long hose clips on our Aston racer so they can be tight or loose to suit the right position, might be food for thought??

Well if they are good enough for Aston Martin ;)

weight of the exhaust is the issue (distribution anyway)

I never saw an engine that ran that lean, and I'm not talking about 13.8, I'm talking about the 19 on the left. How sure are you that this is a valid measurement? If I saw a curve like that from my sensor I'd be investigating the sensor installation before the map.

It's already been said, whether it be in here or another thread/forum - (and is also obvious from the different opinions that I've been given) that mapping takes on many different faces depending on who you speak to.

If as a consumer you are advised by another member or by whoever - that they've had a bad experience with a certain tuner - they're only exercising their right to offer advice on an open forum.

Whether someone chooses to exercise that right is entirely up to them. If you then go to another company, which undoubtedly specialises in that one area (and not an attempt at juggling every aspect, there for having the resources, qualifications and knowledge) and are told that for the most part, what has been done is not how it should be, who are you more likely to believe.

If you look into peoples past and previous experiences - imo it's clear as night and day. As far as the 19 at low RPM is concerned, I'm more than positive that if it were to be an incorrect reading, it would be dealt with in the proper manner.

As said - the cars drivability is greatly improved since - smoother. So speaking from someone who previously would not of known any better having not driven a car running jenvey application, I can safely say I much prefer the way the car now drives.

How are you sure that the engine was under load? This plot shows an engine on the overrun then the throttle being reapplied to WOT. If the car was held in steady state under WOT at circa 2K RPM before measurements were taken the curves would be much flatter across the graph. The drop from 19 to full load AFR is as the exhaust gas content changes as the engine begins to burn fuel. WOT is achieved at circa 3000RPM, from 4000RPM the data collected is suitable for use as all transient conditions bar engine speed rise rate are accounted for and there is a burn occuring at four to five times the sample rate of the lambda sensor (circa 100ms). We measure AFR using an ETAS LA4 (http://www.etas.com/en/products/la4.php) it is extremely accurate and used as standard test apparatus in a number of OEM test cells and development labs.

Hope that explains it.

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

After reading it fully, in my own personal opinion, I can understand why Ktec have posted and the reasons concerning, but I personally think it is a bit of a poor show on ktecs behalf how its got quite personal. I know you guys must take this personally, but arguing is not the answer. As much as you wish to change his view, in this case it seems as you wont, and simply having a 4 page post war isnt (in my opinion) how id want to see a proffesional company to handle this situation.

As stated, it is the mapping he has a problem with, he has gone elseware and now has a map which he says is much better. Again I can understand why you wish to defent your selfs here, but if thats his opinion, then you wont change it.

It really shouldnt matter to you what he says, one person is not going to cause all your customers to leave, and getting a bit 'to the point' wont solve anything.

I think now both sides have said their opinions. I dont think dwelling on it any longer is going to do any good.

All in my own opinion of course, and no harm/nastiness meant towards any party

OT, im really looking forward to see your motor mate

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

For those who didn't notice I'm now using a new account as I was rocking my chums for quite awhile after purchasing the car off him...and coincidentally has nothing to do with the previous KTR-Saga.

So, hello....again

Not much of an update..

but as the car has now been running ... differently??(is that allowed? :)) ... I decided to give it a quick power shower and run before I get the airbox and micropore ducting fitted and mapped to suit.

Removed the KTR top mounts as the offside was rock solid seized and not moving at all.

ATS ones are on now and feel pretty good so far. Excuse the current decked look.

Rocking the new Recyclables sticker :)

Front bumper looking sorry for itself

might recognise these from a more sorted Ti Ph1 off here.

For now I say goodbye to it for a few weeks - and aslong as nothing horrific happens I'll update again towards the end of August.

Cheers.

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Yarp, will be needing a shorter one if i run a proper sausage filter, as the rad would get in the way - job for winter me thinks

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Quick update with a few bad nails in the mix also.

Eventually went with the PX600 filter which required a few alterations to the Pro alloy rad and a spacer which was made up (Cheers Matt) quickly for clearance to avoid changing the fuel rail.

60mm deep back plate, better relocation of the air sensor and better TPS fitted.

Very pleased with the gains.

However... due to the less effective and down right utterly CRAP design of the original pipercross filter supplied by K-Tec, mesh found it's way down cyl number 4 at some point and has caused damage to the cylinder walls and exhaust valve seats..

:( thats a right pain mate.

At least the end figures are very impressive, I hope the damage cuased wont effect it much

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Yep, really impressed with the gains. Worth noting that when the car got there originally it was making under 185bhp with it's live map from leaving Dorset. So found an additional 10bhp by richening the mixture where needed there alone with no alterations to the setup.

And now with a proper filter element it's right back up there. I'm chuffed with the torque figure

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

I cant believe the huge jump in torque low down after the initial remap!

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

those universal socks are utter tripe Russ, they left little foamy deposits everywhere too! This filter is the 125 deep so there is plenty of room in there! Can't wait to see how it's improved the drive.

That'd be nice, you'll see at Combe next month. That or you'll get a piece of mesh in your eye if you bumper hog :). Courtesy of KTR's bath sponge :quiet:
