So does that mean your clunking/knocking noise has disappeared?

Strut brace next? Haven't read up so don't know if previously mentioned.

I'm hoping so but I still reckon it's engine mount related :)

Not intending on getting the strut braces as i've heard they barely do much on the Clio chassis.

They look mint mate, got i link to them?

There you go matey :) When do you get the clio back?

Bit of an update. From the very first day of owning the car I noticed a few imperfections with the paintwork that have constantly niggled at me. These being:

• both wing mirrors have scuffing on the edges from where the previous owner looks to have tried to fit down a spot they can't make. Along with the offside wing mirror having a crack in it and the nearside having specs in the paint
• offside trims have one scuff on them each as shown!

So I ordered some wing mirrors and side trims and started to spray them up over a week.

The final finish on them wasn't too great but I knew that i'd be able to get them looking fairly decent with some 2000 wet and dry, the machine polisher and some megs #205 cutting compound. Just a finishing polish as not much cutting would be required!

This was after spraying

Im thinking about doing my wing mirror caps as theres a small crack in the paint in one of them and a few tiny chips.

I had a further play with photoshop :D and I'm pretty much dead set on this now.

I've darkened the side bullets, lowered and put the headlight washer blanks on.

What are people's thoughts?

I much prefer it when the bullets and the wheels are matching. So I'm with the after for both the bullets and the disappearance of the rake you had [emoji13]

Done a decent job with the side strips and mirror covers. What lacquer did you use?

Cheers man, looks like i'll go for that.

Erm, not actually too sure, think it might be made by carplan or something, just generic lacquer from my local motor factors.

I like the look of how low it is, not meaning it's low! But like the right height where it still remains purposeful.

Ahh I didn't get on with some cheapo lacquer, I've used Pro-xcel and Inkasa (sp) and highly rate them as the nozzle is a lot better and you can vary the spray pattern. I've recently done my own cup spoiler and didn't need to flat it too much. Either way you go about it, quality results prevail.

Really very nice job on the painting, the difference from a flat and polish is mental.

Thank you Rob. I never used to do that with stuff I've painted before with fearing that I might damage it but it turns out it's not that scary after all. I'm really wanting to do the whole car now to get rid of the Orange peel.

That sounds good, the paint I used for this had a decent feeling nozzle. When spraying, instead of the paint coming out in a circular mist like a normal can of spray, it was more of a vertical spray pattern. Is that similar to what your can was like?

@dann2707 might be able to help you with the 4x4 front ride height I've got two front sportlines if you want them? Temporary measure until you arrange the B14's.

That'd be awesome, thanks. Pmd :D

Did the top mounts sort the knocking?

Sadly they didn't. But when removing the old ones the bearings were absolutely destroyed so I'm glad I changed them anyway.

Changing the nearside wheel bearing actually cured the knocking. Must have been so loose that it enabled something to catch when changing gear /coming off the power.

Really glad it's sorted though as it was driving me up the wall.

@tomhunt85

Found the source of my problems!

There is a lip on the bearing carrier. Picture doesn't really show it but running my finger along that shaft :)D) shows a big lip. I'm not exactly sure how long it's been like that. When I first got the car the bearing was loose so maybe tightening and loosening, tightening again has worn away some of that material.

The new bearing is still sat in my bedroom as I am just using the one that came with the replacement hub that I bought yesterday. I'm not sure whether to just run this one into the ground or replace it anyway seeing as though I have it here anyway.

Have similar symptoms but my shocks and bearings are also knackered. Fitting coilovers this week and if that doesn't get rid of the noise the o/s bearing will be high on the list of culprits.

Car looks nice by the way, impressed with the paintwork.

Thank you! (I think??) lol are these the ones that hold the bumper edge to the arch liners?

Can't remember me saying I needed these lol

  FRP - Clio 182
Yes thats correct, arch screws.

No you didn't but its the small things that make the difference and for £1.99 once fitted you will see why I recommended them to you.

Looking good mate. Nice job with the spraying too, looks like you've certainly got a nack for it!

I've not seen this about I don't think. Where abouts in Leeds are you?

Thanks a lot Brookie :) Im from Garforth/kippax area but work in the Leeds uni IMR department so park up near Headingley. Where are you from mate? Your car looks stunning by the way.

  FRP - Clio 182
You get 10 screws with that link, its two each behind the front wheels, then a few others in different arch positions.

Yeah I did notice that, so I am assuming its a mistake, hoping so anyway.
I did inquire from Renault direct and they sell them at 55p each.

Cub.

Looking good, glad the source of the problem has been found.

FYI - the PMS front strut brace to go with those PMS top mounts you have does improve the rigidity and handling. It is the only one that does :)

Big thanks to @Nick_Leeds for donating me some Eibach springs for the front. I fitted them Sunday with my mate who wanted to get his hands dirty. Also fitted a new front caliper and bled it suing the eezibleed system as I stupidly managed to snap my bleed bolt on my other a while back. Lesson learnt = Always GT85 that bast the day before you're thinking of bleeding brakes.

Anyway, really happy with how it's evened out the suspension up

Thanks again Nick

I've still got my wishbone bushes to fit at a weekend sometime as I needed a large socket to press the old ones out and a cup spoiler on the way thanks to @Luke...

So quite a few more jobs left but it's slowly getting there.
