Dark Blue Clio 1.2 Mk2 PH1

  DCI Extreme
Okay guys so this is my stock Clio 1.2 (freshly washed :)):

Not much to look at really but only cost me £350 so i'm not complaining!

Anyway, plans at the minute are:
New wheels
New rear lights (all red is boring!)
Matching indicator caps ^
Possible colour coding (we'll see!)

Not going to spend the Earth on it, a few things here and there to make it look a bit nicer will do for me.

Rear lights are the first thing changed (found some pretty cheap on Ebay) – I know they're not very flashy coming from a MK2 PH2 but i think they look loads better than the all red ones. Had to purchase some orange indicator bulbs but otherwise fine :).

My plans are to get a decent set of wheels on, maybe do a bit of colour coding (no promises) and some other small touches.

  DCI Extreme
Got me a set of 172 wheels off Ebay (gotta love it) complete with nearly new tyres for a very reasonable price – though with some amount of kerbing unfortunately – and, once tracked and balanced, put them on.

I was thinking of getting some new headlights, as mine looked like they had cataracts or something, but, with a little help from my Dad, I managed to sort the originals out quite nicely:

Quite a difference i'm sure you'll agree! What I did was buff the lights using a metal cleaner, which, apart from cleaning metal, also gets scratches out of plastic! So I think i'll stick with the original lights, at least for now.

Next thing to change had to be the indicator caps, the standard orange just wasn't looking good. I decided on 'crystal clear' ones to go with the clear circle on the back lights – keeping things subtle.

Not a very good photo and the orange bulbs look awful – may swap them sometime soon for the clear ones.

First performance mod (though with the Clio being a 1.2 it doesn't make a lot of difference, except to the sound, which is what I was going for):

Nothing special as I knew it wouldn't affect the car too much, but still looks pretty cool and gives the car a bit of a growl.

  DCI Extreme
So, to date, I have;

Changed the rear lights and indicator caps;
Upgraded the wheels;
buffed up the front lights;
Added an air filter.

Not much, but something at least.

Plans for the future;

Front fog lights;
Clear indicator bulbs;
Interior styling – would like to add some silver to go with the lights and wheels;
Colour code bumpers/spoiler – not definite, but would love to not have black strips running around my car. Though maybe just swap out the bumpers/spoiler if I come across decent (and cheap) replacements.

May be a while before anything else happens, but i'll keep the thread going when it does. Until then, any suggestions/advice/comments would be appreciated.

  PH1 1.2s
looks a good start, i'd suggest a dynamique spoiler and possible duel optics, get rid of that HTFC sticker too :rasp:

  DCI Extreme
Er, by dual optics do you mean front fogs Tom? And the HTFC sticker has to stay, I live in Barnsley so gotta make sure everyone knows my true colours!
Thanks Andy, wish 1*2's were as cheap!

  Rs200
may i ask what you have done to the airflow meter? i take it that can be removed? i have the same car but 5 door i payed 300 with tax mot and 67k miles

  DCI Extreme
Er not done anything to the airflow meter, just took out the air filter box and stuck on the new filter. Nice buy for £300 :D

Na duel optics are the headlights that are in the PH1 s's, RSI's and 172 etc my 1.2 s came with them, but fogs are a good buy too, and due to the fact you kept the pigs down saturday I'll let you off :D

Fitted with standard bulbs, left, and HID's, right. Worth it.

Not posted any mods for a while as, well, there haven't been any. I can confirm however that I am currently awaiting a PH2 steering wheel (gotta have the chrome logo), Silvatech bulbs for front, rear and side indicators, and a 172 spoiler which will go straight on as it's already Monaco Blue! So yeah once I've fitted the new stuff i'll take some pictures and get them up for you guys to see :)

  renault clio 1.2 16V
where did you get that sonic sticker lol proper bargain for 350 as well, are you going ahead with the colour coding?

  DCI Extreme
Got the Sonic sticker off Ebay, came from America and at a decent price :) Still got colour coding in mind, but can't bring myself to spend the money getting it done yet; I'm torn between colour coding and refurbing my wheels at the mo :S As for lowering it, i'm not sure it'd be a good idea, I already had to fit spacers on the rear wheels as they were rubbing on the inside of the arch, lowering it would probably bring that problem back (also having trouble with the rear n/s currently – makes a grinding noise every time I set off and the car seems to be lower on that side).

  renault clio 1.2 16V
ah i see your dilemma, i'd say refurbish wheels but thats my opinion, need to look out for that sticker :p

  renault clio 1.2 16V
im no too sure mate as i get mine for a cut price with my dad working at a bodyshop, pm spray shack on here im sure they have good prices. have heard nothing but good things about them since on the forum, worth a punt lol

Decided to replace the bulb in my dash clock as it had gone, which of course was no where near as simple as I thought (or hoped). First off I had to remove the front pillar covers, then the top of the steering wheel surround, then unscrew a million screws to get the whole of the top of the dash off. After all that I figured i'd make it a bit more worthwhile, so decided i'd spray a bit of the dash silver to introduce a bit of my silver theme to the interior:

Not a bad job IMO :) and will look even better once I get the PH2 steering wheel on, and possibly a sport gear knob and sport pedals. What does everyone think?

  DCI Extreme
£200? Nearly as much as I bought the wheels and tyres for :S the missus would freak! Thanks, wasn't a massive fan of the colour at first but it's growing on me slightly. Still prefer Nautical Blue, but you gotta work with what you got!

  DCI Extreme
Silvatech bulbs in all round, finally got rid of all the orange :) Will be painting the callipers silver in the near future I think. Still waiting on my PH2 steering wheel and 172 spoiler! :dapprove: Oh and a silver Renault tax disc holder (of course!).

  A slow blue one.
Mines a nautical blue, does give a pretty smart flake pop when freshly waxed.

Well mine were in a bit of a state when I bought them. Depending on the condition of the wheels it may work out a little cheaper because some of the worst kerbing needed filling. It may have helped that one of my mates worked at the bodyshop I used :rolleyes:

  DCI Extreme
Cheers AJ02, we'll see about the wheels ... The want is there but the willingness to spend the money isn't! :p And thanks Mister_Lee :D

Just painted the rear wheel drums black, not that it shows much. Still, better than the rust-look they had an hour ago! I'm undecided on the callipers though – should I do them silver or dark blue? :S

  DCI Extreme
So finally got my 172 spoiler and whacked it straight on, looks a treat :)

Okay so a few new things introduced to my car; painted the callipers black and silver, got the PH2 steering wheel on and managed to bag myself some fog lights on Ebay, which my Dad spent about two hours wiring up for me :) Not got pics of everything yet but will post them up when I do, for now it's just the fog lights :)

As soon as the weather picks up a bit and I have chance, i'll give the car a wash to make sure she's looking her best and then get some more pics up. Until then, a rundown of what i've done so far:

PH2 rear lights;
172 16" wheels;
Crystal clear indicator caps;
Silvatec bulbs all round;
172 spoiler;
PH2 steering wheel;
Silver dash highlights;
Black and silver callipers;
Fog lights;
Silver Renault tax disc holder.
