Hey guys, long time lurker and been secretly picking all of your brains and buying stuff off of here so i thought it was about time you all knew what i was up to!

I've been MSA karting for the last 8 years which was brilliant fun and i came 4th in the nationals last year but I thought it was about time for a change.

sooo.... when a friend was selling his cat d write off clio for £800 i jumped at the chance. It would be a cheap track toy to have fun in. Well that lasted all of 1 trackday before i decided i'd like to go a bit further with the car, then i got a bit carried away...

I can't be bothered to describe everything and pictures say more than words so here goes!

And that pretty much sums up where I'm up to atm got a load of things in the pipeline so hopefully not too long before its finished but progress will be slow as I'm also building a house with my brother atm so all hands are on deck and unfortunately that has to take priority. Any reason why you chose the Spax in board rear as opposed to the outboard coilovers?

Thanks guys, yea i noticed the callipers were wrong lol the actual callipers are the right way but the carriers need swapping round.

Well originally the car was going to be a cheap track toy so i was looking for the best suspension i could get for under £1000 so i bought the spax and i didn't know about the coilover rear ones. Anyway my one trackday old coilovers will go up for sale somewhen when i swap to something better like ast's.

The cage is out of a clio cup car. Met a bloke at a trackday who saw me going round and asked if i was into racing etc and said he had a clio cup cage in an old rally car of his that he was going to sell. So for the grand total of £250 i bought the cage and he fitted it for £100 over the weekend. He does lots of rally car stuff down in the depths of wales. Couldn't say no really!

Lots of shiny bits have arrived/ been ordered so when i get my phone back i should hopefully have some updates to upload.

But today i'm off to castle combe to meet up with the tricolore trophy boys to see what its all about!

Just had a quick read through, car looks like it's coming together well!

Well i've been flat out on the house these last few weeks but i had this last weekend off so went to Monaco to watch the historic F1 which was amazing. My gearbox is now at agency transmissions and they should be receiving a Gripper lsd and cwp in the next few days. Will also throw a shorter 5th gear in it whilst its all being put together.

Also waiting for my new bucket seat to turn up as there's been delays with that but i'm not in a major hurry.

My ecu, wiring harness and all the associated sensors arrived recently:

And i fitted all the cut off cables after having to buy some longer cables:

So when the gerabox is back i will throw it all back together and then i can get fitting other shiny bits n bobs that are sat in my workshop waiting to go on.

The list of things to order is getting shorter!

Quick update:

My new seat finally arrived on friday so i set about fitting it.

Also did a few other bits n bobs tidying things up and cutting up bits of carbon to blank off holes. I also rolled the rear archs to give a bit more clearance as its a bit tight with the spacers on. Oh and i swapped the brake pad carriers round so they are now the right way round!

Its just a bit of a waiting game now. Gearbox is all done so has a nice new gripper lsd and cwp fitted as well as a full rebuild by agency transmissions, hopefully organise a courier to pick it up tomorrow. Also one flywheel bolt short as i only got sent 6 but need 7 so will need to order one bolt... But after seeing burpspeed's coombe incident i thought it would be worth doing as i overheard the lads saying that you can only use those bolts once.

So once thats all back it should theoretically be a case of throwing it all together and then sending it off to have a wiring loom made up and then mapping. Just umming and ahhing about getting the cambelt and dephaser changed etc. But if i'm going to do that i may as well fit cams.... Self control might have to come in here!

Nice progression mate, hmm self control whats that then?

Regarding the flywheel bolts, it should be common knowledge to replace them as the ramification are to great otherwise. (Theres plenty of youtube clips of flying flywheels! )

How much did the arch roller cost?
