Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

Might order an ozone generator aswell. Anyone used one of the cheap ones?
Yeah I ordered one for work a few years back. It works really well tbh.

Had a car that had been smoked in all it's life and it reduced the effects massively but not 100%

But on other general smells it's worked really well. Get a big hit of chlorine if you get in it prematurely too which really wakes you up

Lovely!

Was that one of the cheap cheaps like 40 quid Amazon jobbys?

Yeah they really do work well. Just make sure you don't breathe it in and air the car after for a few hours.

Incase anyone wants a quality snow foam lance for the good weather. I bought a new one for my new car that arrived, saves me taking it to and from work all the time. Very impressed. Using it with Gyeon Foam as I have Gyeon base 1 as my coating. Really impressed for £20!

Anyone any experience with dewalt rotary polishers? I’ve plenty dewalt batteries and enjoy cordless much more than corded.

Gurus, what is going on with my snow foam lance here? No chemical bottle attached in this pic obviously but no matter what I do with fan width /chemical mix/dilution all I get is this pathetic stream rather than full fat foam. Setup is a karcher k2, direct hoses 15m hose, one of their trigger handles, and a direct hoses lance. I'm using angelwax fast foam. I have also changed out the brass orifice to a smaller, 1.1mm one.

Any thoughts?

Some of them have two adjustments. The knob and also the end swivels?

They’ve become so cheap now that they’re effectively disposable. I’ve bought a load of cheap ones and also tried expensive ones and there’s no real difference. Might be worth buying a cheapo and seeing how that goes

Got one from Tik tok shop for £9 and it’s brilliant

Yeah its the red bit pictured which rotates to adjust the fan spread, nothing doing there. There is water pissing out of there as well. I assume it's clogged somewhere but I can't work out how to get it apart, just all plastic

Ah yeah. Something won’t be lining up or some blockage. I’ve had issues before and there is a small amount of disassembly I managed but I couldn’t get to the bottom of it and just binned it in the end

Also fyi it looks like direct hoses sell the cheap ones from temu with an incredible mark up😅. I’d probably go back to them and ask for a replacement

Nah the more expensive ones are definitely a noticeably better item, but the cheapo ones do work well for what they cost.

@Hollidog itll likely have a little guaze filter that is clogged up in it

Is that lance one that comes with the machine, how old is it?

The likes of mjjc are a noticeable improvement and better made.

Not sure if it really makes a difference, but I was never able to get proper foam like you see in videos of pro detailers until I swapped to one of these quick connect ones, I was just buying the cheapest Karcher compatible ones before that. Looks like it's a generic design and probably won't last forever, but really impressed so far.

Will be the gauze. See the one I linked at £19. Very impressive.

Thanks gents I'll have another crack at getting it apart in the week. The orifice I bought did come with a gauze but not sure where it went so left it.

I'll have a look at MJJC if that doesn't work

I gave the oven shelves a going over with Bilt Hamber Surfex HD yesterday and they came up like new. I don't know why I'd not tried it before!

I'd already diluted it and had it in a spray (for the cars) so I unscrewed it and threw it in the sink water with some Persil dish soap. I was well happy! They came up great after only a few minutes in the water and barely any agitating with a dish brush.

Can recommend!! 10/10

And then you cooked tea in it and poisoned ya self 🤣🤔

Anyone know of alternatives to Gtechniq Smart Fabric? Went to get some and it’s £31 for 500ml and I don’t remember paying that much for it in the past so just seeing if there is anything else that will do the same. It’s annoying as the Gtechniq stuff is really good so I might just have to suck it up and pay for it.

They've all gone up in price.

Gyeon's equivalent for 400ml is £48 😳

This might be worth a look

Sounds like a good shout and looks to do the same thing.

Not sure if its been mentioned but has on Detailing World. Tesco are doing the Adams range of products, example their Blue shampoo which is my go to for no water spotting (or very little) is there at £9, with a clubcard £6.

I need fuel and normally use Shell, but tomorrow its Tesco lol.....

Actually grabbed this the other day too, it’s decent stuff!

Have you tried any other Adams stuff? The shampoo was the only one that jumped out at me

Yeah tried a few detailing sprays, their glaze all decent stuff imo. Don't get loads of airtime as they are an American brand

The blue shampoo is absolutely spot on

Yeah I like it, doesn’t foam up as much as I expected but maybe need to mess about with dilution ratios
