I'm with @Gally on the Infinity Wax Rapid Detailer. Granted I've not been through aload of them but I always go back to it.

I bought some CarPlan Super No1 Super Gloss after I saw a lot of people raving about it but I've not yet had chance to use it.

I've got Infinity wax, Gyeon ceramic and FSE.

Infinity and Gyeon deffo leave a nicer finish but FSE is better at cleaning water spots and mild residue.

Looks like I’ve loaded something into the boot that’s scratched the inside of the rear screen, guessing when I’ve shut it and it’s been a tight fit.

Any recommendations of any glass scratch polish, or how best to try and get them out?

Thanks!

Can you feel the scratch?

If you can, you won't be able to polish it out.

Infinity Wax have been bought out, wonder if this is going to have an effect on the quality of the products and the innovation we have seen from IW previously?

Yeah they make budget stuff. My assumption would be they have IW as a proper brand. They are a massive group so it makes sense.

Takes away from the attraction of IW for me sadly. Can only wait and see!

Fair play to Michael, that's the goal at the start and he's succeeded! Not many start ups get to that level!

I wonder if they will want to work on the success and continue with the products as are and we will start seeing IW in Halfords and Asda etc?

Ive noticed alot of detailers who use IW are concerned as Tetrosyl don't do individual trade accounts like IW do they only do trade accounts on wholesale apparently (Halfords etc) so alot are concerned that their go too products are suddenly going to greatly increase in price unless Tetrosyl honor the trade accounts.

Ordered some Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer as I keep reading good reviews. Do I need to remove the Black plastics from the car or mask off to avoid getting on the bodywork?

I assume you’d degrease the part prior to application?

What are the go to single stage polishes these days?

I've seen scholl mentioned here and there a couple of times.

Just looking for minor improvements really, don't have the time for the multiple stages at the minute.

Thanks chaps!

What sort of pad would you suggest? Any sort of medium cut? I like the lake country ones so I'm assuming an orange pad or do you suggest something else in combination with perfect finish.

The BMW has noticeably harder paint than the Ford so the orange LC pad with carpro essence doesn't seem to touch even light stuff.

I've got some new wheels and tyres sitting in my shed ready to go on early June... what's the best thing I can coat them with for future protection before putting them on? Some kind of ceramic stuff? Never used it before. I usually just use Poorboys cleaner and some kind of polish. Anything worth putting on the tyres too?

I’ve used Gtechniq C5 and Gyeon Rim before. Both very good. The Gyeon stuff was meant to be rated to a higher temperature so I had the stuff in track wheels. I used the C5 stuff off a set of winter wheels this year and held up really well in the crap weather.

Gave the car its twice yearly blitz yesterday, which turned out to be a pain in the tits. Was meant to be overcast but turned into a blazing sunny day. Not ideal for Iron-X etc. Carried on regardless and did small areas at a time.

Anyway, i was building up to using Bilt Hamber Touch On. I’ve used Hydro-2 for years but, the last bottle I had went cloudy and stopped performing and it was starting to do my tits in, in general.

Applied Touch On using a foam cannon. Spray on, rinse off. Hasn’t left streaking on the black detailing Of the car (B pillars etc). It doesn’t feel as slick as Hydro-2 either, when you touch door handles. Looks good though. Won’t really know what beading etc is like as no rain is forecast. Being summer, it’s also not going to be subjected to salt etc so performance will be difficult to judge.

Overall happy with it. I’m no expert in this stuff. A weekend warrior. There will be flaws in my techniques but, the results I get have my car looking better than 95% out there so, meh.

Id take some pics but you’re only going to see a white Golf, so, what’s the point 🤷‍♂️
