Difference between 182 & 172

  Clio 172 ff
Hi, i'm new to the site and new to the whole clio sport scene. Could someone basically tell me what the difference is between the 182 and 172 to gain the extra 10 horses. Also is there any difference in transmission between the models? Any help much appreciated. Cheers ben

no, but 172 cup gearbox is different to 172 FF one as i understand it. something to do with the speedo sensors.

Well a 182 one won't fit mine, as it's some freak one that has the cup speedo sensors or something.

Didn't know all that either;
I thought it was just the exhaust + manifold and the grey headlight surrounds.

i didnt realise the 182had wider track?

By that do they not mean its running 205/45 r16 tyres instead of 195/45 r16's ?

Or is it something totally different ?

Like the hubs or something ?

I was told the hubs are bigger like 5mm, so stick out further. The ET from the wheels on the 182 is different than the 172 Cup wheels so they sit further in. The wheels make up for the difference of the bigger hubs so the actual track is the same again.

I checked this out last time i almost wanted to fit the larger hubs to my 172 cup.. Changed my mind because then i would have had to put on the 182 wheels too to have correct tracking. I dont like the 182 wheels so kept it the way it is

also the hubs on the 172 FF and the cup are the same, only the 172 cup wheels have an ET that makes the tracking wider

And what the advantage of having hubs bigger by 5mm ?

A Renault specialist who does service on my car said also the bearing is a bit stronger , just a stronger hub than the earlier smaller hubs

Somebody correct me if the 5mm is'nt right, i'm sure it was something like this. It would be 1 cm in total wider track
