Dilemma

  Oyster Card
Mint bodywork wise Renault Clio 1.4 RT

Cambelt due, head gasket probably heading south - 90k

1) Pay for the work to be done

or

2) Carry on servicing it minus the head and cam until the engine goes bang and drop a replacment lump in from the breakers

What would be the most logical and cost effective? In an ideal world the car is going in April.

I would have thought that doing the gasket and belt is a lot simpler than a new engine, plus it's easier to explain when you sell it on, rather than sounding dodgy like you swapped a dodgy lump in 'cos you drive it like a joyrider and blew the old one lol

prob to do head gasket for anything between 350-500, If your canging the gasket then ud usually change the cambelt at the same time when putting the head back on. If the engine is in good condition the spend to get the work done.

Okey doke, cheers lads. Engine is in pretty good knick minus an oil leak which looks like gearbox but can't be much to fix?

Thanks again.
