dipstick snapped

but seriously just went to check my oil and found the other end of the dipstick is missing. i can only assume the worse has happened and its gone down into the sump.

will it be ok (draining oil soon so might be able to retrieve it that way)

it shouldnt get into the engine as the filter will block it.............wont it???

i'd suggest not running the engine until its retrieved, not worth the risk

That thing is relatively sharp. Especially if its snapped! As above, probably better to find it first

just had a look and i cant find it in the lil tube holder thing.

a mate was helping me servie it early so ill have a word with him and hopefully it snapped and he got it out..............hopefully

ive looked cant get anything down to try and get it up. tried pliers, knitting needles the lot

would it be possible to take the oil filter out and try and poke it up

think it's solid behind the filter - just oil galleries

can you poke some wire down the tube to see if there's an obstruction? then measure the length of wire, match it against the rest of the stick and see if that tells you anything?

sounds like a sump off job anyway

an inch of the stick goes into the tube but looking at it i cant tell weather i can see the dipstick of a reflection from the torch

looks like its a sump off job

Try changing the oil mate. See if it peaks out of the sump.

Just drain the oil and remove the sump, simple.

can also use a smaller tube in between the broken one and a bit of silicon if you wanna cheap easy simple fix. - if its the tube

lol, reminds me of when mine broke. had to super glue the handle loop and contact adv spray the dipstick in the spout. push it on leave it a few seconds and pray to feck that it pulls the stick out.

hopefully he has fixed this now.

It's a piece of piss to remove the sump, I don't know why everyones going to such extreme lengths not to?
