Ditching my alloys :(

  ?
Switching back to my steelies for insurance reasons (just found out my policy doesnt cover any mods whatsoever so until febuary...) gonna have to put up with going from 15" yokohoma paradas to 14" budget tyres on steel rims.

Will i notice a huge difference? Im gnna miss the yoko's stick-to-s**t personality and taking turns quick :(

I found going from good tyres on 15's to crap tyres on 14's truly awful, cornering was seriously bad, as was trying to go round roundabouts.

FFS. I dont understand why something that makes the car handle better / safer invalidates insurance. Piss take tbh.

Should i be expecting a lot of understeer then?

Just swapped them over and went for a quick drive....

Cant believe this, the handling is truley awful... and this is on a clear, sunny day. Braking distance is approx twice as bad, the tyres lock up and skid so easily its untrue. Cornering is awful. No idea how im going to live with these for 6 months, im genuinly scared.

All this because insurance wont let me have something that actually makes my car safer at normal road speeds.

The state of this country...

You say your running the steels on budget tyres, so what do you expect ?

The tyres make one hell of a difference. The state of the country has nothing to do with you running budget tyres on your car.
Only you can rectify the handling of it by buying better tyres other than budget ones.

No brainer really.

its not the insurance companys fault you have budget tyres on your standard wheels, but some better tyres for them?

No point in really buying new tyres for 5 months when these have done about 500 miles in there lifetime...

catch 22 ftl :(

Can’t you cancel your policy (think you get nearly if not all your money back) and start a new one with a mod friendly insurer?

buy some steelies off ebay..i think laguna steels are 15x7 then fit your yokos on them. then techinally you will be complying with the insurance company
