no idea about the plates. but once theyre welded, grind em down level. Use some easy sand. i use industrial size at work, think its p38 or p40 at halfords. eithers fine tho. take down ya filler best you can with P80 grit sandpaper. dont bother with a block as your tryin to round it in, not get it flat.

when u think its pretty good. take it down with p180 dry, then p320 dry. never jump more than 2 grits, ie from 80 grit to 320 grit, as youll leave all the deep scratches in there which primer wont cover!

when its nice n smooth, if youve got ure own compresser get some cellulose primer or 2pak primer on it, really dont matter. 2pac is more high build for very large repairs ( or for very bad repairers ;P ) or slap some aerosol primer on there. dont try n cover it in 1 thick coat... build it up over quite a few coats.. let it flash off (dry a little) between coats to avoid it runnin 2 f*ck.

once youre primers dry ( depends what your usin ) dust a guidecoat on. this means gets some black aerosol, n spray lightly over where youve primered (dont cover it, just a dust coat) this will then show up any scratches you may have in the primer when ure flatting it down.

now its completely upto you if you wanna wet flat it or just dry flat it. at work we usually use p400 dry on a sander, at home ide say get some soapy water n use some p1200 wetordry, flat it down til youre happy with it and u cant see no black lines. get some grey scotchbrite (halfords should sell this, if not try your local car accessory shop) and rub down your bonnet and wings. you aint tryin to take the paint off, youre tryin to take the shine off, make it dull.

Now pay mr.painter to paint your bonnet, wings n tailgate 8)

ps, if u do get some deep scratches in the primer, just flat them out , even if you break through the primer.. u can always put a few more coats on.

Good luck, dont panic :D

hope i aint missed anythin n looked silly, pm me any probs
