Will a cup splitter/ktec carbon splitter fit a ph1 172?

With modification, yes.

Not 100% perfect but yes well enough imo, had a carbon one on mine

Sweeet, what sort of modifications are we talking, or it just a case of bending round?

From what I've read they need shortening on either end and a small V cutting out of the middle and then bending/forcing to the right shape. Then just drill and screw to fit in place.
