Does Servicing on a 182 cost the earth ?

  Shed.
Does it cost a lot, ie, more than £400 for a single service, i know they vary with each service though.

Also, What mileages does the cambelt need to be changed at?

Cambelts the same as a normal clio, 72K or 5 years.

Servicing aint too bad if you go to a Specialist, usual Renault prices are about £250 for a service IIRC.

nah they aint to bad mate if you go independant its around 100 quid mark i guess, cambelt is 72k or 5years whichever comes first and is around 400-800 quid and aux belt is with the 36k service which is about 200-400 quid

What I meant was that there are about 50,000 threads on here about when the cambelt & aux belt etc is due for a 172 so I was saying that it's the same as one of those (a 182) too.

well ive got a year and a half hike ahead of me yet ! only 19 and a half, but ill gladly take you up on an offer to show me what the 182 is like if you fancy taking me round the backroads or somehting ;)

Lol, good on you for doing your research but I don't even know what im cooking for dinner tonight let alone what car I may be getting in a year and a half!

182 servicing is pretty reasonable to be honest. (Other than cambelt service)

My 4 year/48k service is being done next week. Oil & Filter, Air Filter, Pollen filter for £70 using genuine parts.

Want somehting to aim for and motivates me to save ;)

i buy a car, then save up for a new one for a year or so and but another.

Desicion is between a 2005 1.6 Dynamique with Low mileage or a 2005/55 182 in Black gold with less than 40k on the clocks. All depends on insurance and petrol prices at the time.

im averaging 37.1 and i do ver short 10 min journeys to work through built up areas with stopping and starting, and my journey to college takes 20 mins in stupid traffic.

Long trips at 60mps gives me 48mpg on a mway.

from what i hear 172/182's dont drink untill theyre past 6k on the rev counter.

doin 70-89mph on a 400mile run to cambridge and back in my 182 with a biggish passenger and his bike leathers i got 42mpg.

My journey to work which is alot of stop start traffic, and a dual carrigeway which has a constantly changing speed limit eg 50, 60, 40, 60, 40. I tend to get around 35mpg.

Normal services are same kind of price for any car, ones involving the Aux and Cambelts always look pretty pricey.

I just had my 36k done at Rentech which included the Aux belt, MOT, new discs on the front and pads all round... it cost £704.

However, I only ever get my car serviced/looked at once a year. Any car service is pricey though if you need a bit of work doing.

If you're just gonna drive it like that all the time there is no point in getting a Sport. Save your money and get a fiesta diesel or something.

I have been quoted £150 for a 4 year full service, including £25 for an MOT...Fully synthetic oil, by Thurlow Nunn, in Norwich. This is half what local main dealer is quoting. Has anyone got any views on whether this is OK

Cheers

I need to take my car in for a service in about 5hundred miles actually....my warrenty ran out in may and we only have one renault dealer over here anyway and i dont really want to go to them, i have another garage in mind which i know are excellent coz i used to take my evo to them, but does anyone know if a non renault dealer will still give me a stamp for my service history?

I paid £106.89 for my first 12k service, that price includes the fully synthetic oil i supplied, but did not include pollen filter or air filter.

If you take the £25 for an MOT off, then £125 for a service if it includes the oil filter, decent synthetic oil, pollen filter and engine air filter does not sound too bad.
