Does someone know where this trim piece goes??

Today I took the scuttle panels off to clean the drains behind there (wet carpets) and can't for the life of me figure out how this piece of trim is fitted goes - does someone know? Help much appreciated!

Another question I have is when I removed the washer bottle - behind it are two holes in the bodywork that the bottle locates in. Is anyone familiar with this? Should there be a gasket between the bottle and these holes? It's the one large round hole and the smaller oblong shaped hole through the bodywork.
