DS2500 combined with normal pads?

Ello!

My rear DS2500 are coming to the end of their life...

...my fronts are fine!

Sticking standard pads on the rear won't upset the balance so much will it?

(I'm experimenting with left-foot braking at the moment, and it's not going so well as I can't get used to it)

I've only ever run standard pads at the back Oms and DS2500 up front have been fine.

Practicing left foot braking...?

Try this - you're exiting a motorway and can see you'll need to stop at the end of the slip road, so, shift into neutral and try bring your car to the smoothest, slowest, stop possible with your left foot.

That way you don't need to worry about gear-changes, and you can just focus on regulating the pressure and building up the sensitivity you need.

I find with left foot braking, coming off the brakes smoothly, is more important than going onto them.

Or drive an automatic - that way you don't have to worry about changing gear and can get lots of practice! I always used to left foot brake when I had an auto, but it is quite tricky transferring it across to manual even after that!

Why do you need to left foot brake in a FWD car?

Doesn't matter whether it's FWD or RWD...

The principles are the same. except on a FWD car you generally get more understear. So to compensate that you left foot brake to Shift the body weight. Neutralising the balance of the car.

Cheers chaps...

...don't know why I bothered for £55 in the first place!

Yup... the left foot braking can help get the rear out round bends.

It's better than lifting off, because one can keep the throttle planted so as to be straight on the power again.

Mark: I've tried... I seem to be doing emergency stops all the time! :S I've not got the sensitivity worked-out yet.
