Dumbass Design fault on auto lights

  The Jinx

If you manually switch your lights to dipped, then pulling the stalk halfway flashes to main beam, but reverts straight back to dipped.

If however the auto lights come on when you start, and you go to flash they stay on. WTF? Noticed it last night.

Tried it by turning on the engine and the lights automatically came on. You cant just flash. You have to pull once for main beam, the pull again to turn off.

If you then turn the stalk to dipped and try this it just flashes when you pull the stalk.

Stupid fookin numpties.

With or without auto headlamps, if you try and flash your headlamps when they are on, with a one flick action, the lights will go to main beam. They only FLASH with the lights off.

The reason the lights turn off when and if you stall is to preserve battery power to enable a restart.

I understand that if you do stall and the lights go off this could be considered dangerous but more so if the car wont start again coz the battery power is down.

You cant please all the people all of the time.

On the mk1s you have to pull the stalk back twice to flash the lights if youve already got them on. You just get used to it...

Its mean mentioned before a few times.

Once my autolights have switched themselves on, i switch them to dipped, that way you can flash oooo eerrrrr

I admit its pointless having them then, but they can be usefull, if you forget to turn them on yourself or something.

yep, noticed this tonight! the best way is to have to push the stalk away from you for mainbeam constantly on and pull towards you to flash!

On a couple of my old cars, if you pulled the stalk towards you it flashed the main beam and if you pushed the stalk away from you they stayed on.
