ECU?

  BMW 330cd
Just fitted a v6 air box, and my mate said to disconnect the battery for 30 mins then reconnect it so that the ecu can re-evaluate the air fuel mix because it will now betting more air? I thought it did this anyway to a point without having to disconnect the battery, that's why the engine has sensors? I know it will still benefit from a live map but is he talking sense or utter rubbish?

In this case he's wrong, it doesn't need this however the Sirus32/34 ECM's do have adaptives which when reinitialised can and do make the car drive a bit better.

Have you ever tried pour sand in through the inlet whilst the engine is running?

This is a lot cheaper than paying professionals to port and polish your head.

Its only a around £3 for a bag of sharp sand.

I found keeping the engine revving at around 3k had the best results as the sand just flowed straight through and out the exhaust. Great power gains and now my inlet is all shiny!

I'll have to try that thanks.
