Electric fault warning light, Coil pack? (172)

Driving down the road and suddenly the "electric fault" warning light came on on the dash board, i lost all power and the revs stuck on about 2.5k and all i could do was crawl. pulled over turned of and turned on again then all was back to normal. Then a little later the same thing happened, as if the car puts its self into "limp / get you home mode". There is also a slight misfire every now and then when engine is under load.

Im assuming the coil pack has gone, just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem or similar.

Thanks for the offer mate, but I think ill get one from GSF as its only round the corner and i want to get it sorted tomorow. See if gettin a new one sorts out the problem.

OK so last week i bought the coil pack (£42 from GSF and is exactly the same make an part number as the O.E Renault unit) and some BOSH super4 spark plugs (£12 again from GSF) thinkin that once installed the problem would go away, no such luck though driving down the road this time an both the frequency looking light and the "mil" light came on together on the dash and "limp mode" was once again resumed!

Had her plugged in by a local BOSH service centre and they diagnosed it as the Electric foot pedal and so ordered me one (£47 from Renault, compleat with new shiny brushed aluminum plate :) )

Then to my suprise, driving back home and both lights came on again! Great, what could stil be wrong! Going back today to have it checked out further.
