electric PAS pump of a GTi on a 172!

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
i need space on my AUX line. ive lost the aircon and lost the PAS pump also fitting a volvo alternator and bracket (sits lower and is smaller)

was thinking lastnite, i could use my PAS rack and not fit a manual rack,

then ....remember on the 106GTis/ saxo VTs's they have fluid driven PAS but the pump is not on a belt AUX line its just a electric pump.

i have room to fit the pump above the gearbox... and can machine up some custom PAS lines to plumb the GTi pump in.....

would it work?

the only problem i can see if that the 106/vts has a biult in fluid res.. which is fine but it only seems to have one outlet for the pumped fluid?

where as the 172 has a pipe out into the rack then from the rack back into the Res? and the vts/gti pump does not have this

or am i just talking shite

i can have a look at mine if you like and see if it has a return? and see exactly how it is plumbed in for you?

right mate just had a look, mine is a 106 quiksilver and has this pump

because of the reservoir being attached directly to it (not via a pipe) it means you dont have to have a reservoir sitting by the slam panel, it also has a return (which connects to the plastic tube next to the reservoir kneck) and the output is on the 'middle' section (you can see the raised kneck where the pipe attaches)

on this one i cant see anywhere for a return to attach :S

does this help you, i think if you get the top style you can still run a return like normal on your 172? they arent cheap tho if your buying new!!
