electrical fault, battery drains flat overnight?

Hi guys, I'm looking at buying a 1.8 16v 1996 clio of a freind for £450.00 but the car has an electrical fault for some reason the battery die's if you leave ti attached overnight, It's a new battery. I had a problem like this on my Escort but that was because the alternator wires had fused togeather.

Anyone got any suggestions on this problem?

take it to a garage and get the battery tested and the alternator to

do u know ghow to use a test light .test the battery for discharge..its probs the battery .. if it was th e alternater it would happen in the day too

but it is a new battery, however I will put it on a checker.

I think it happens in the day too but he just never left it in the day as he was using it.

If you've got an amp the remote wire might not be function correctly and the amp might be staying on and draining the power. Happened on a mates car, just worked itself loose and came out and then he came back to the car after a day at work and the battery was flat.

nope no amp, the car is completely standard about from an air filter and exhaust.
