http://www.engine-dynamics.com/Transmission/pid1/cid102/ShortShifterLink30ReducedGearShift.asp

i was thinking of the same myself cos as we all no the gear change on a 172/182 are to long/sloppy
what are peoples views on this i no theres a risk of damaging the box in one way or another

so i thought i'd post something up so i can make a final decision

click on the link and see what you think
30% reduced gear shift

cheers peeps

I can easily change gear quicker on the normal shifter than the synchros can handle, so performance wise there is no advantage, and you lose resolution on the feel as a result of the higher gearing, but that said I so quite like shorter throw levers, you just have to respect the fact you need to use them slowly.

One think it might be good for, is using a taller lever than standard to locate it nearer to the steering wheel, and then end up with the same overall gearing as before.
Ie use a 30% longer gear lever.
Ive considered that as an option for my mk1.

No worries dude, im no pro bear in mind, and iv never really looked into short shifters before. Chip-mk1 knows his stuff though...

Not had a problem on mine.
Started with the ED short shifter, then added the yanoo short shifter kit, all been fine no crunching, whining etc for at least 10-15k

  clio 172 phase 2
Ive been looking into this a while now and mostly every thread i have read they have said yanoo stiff shift kit is ideal .

Stiff kit anyday over short shift, but as Chip says, anything is alright if your careful. But not many are.
