engine failure

hi all, just wondering if anyone can give me advice on a good place to get a 2nd hand clio engine my 172's big end is rattling about somting rotten and needs replaced, i wouldnt know where to start realy , so basicly im hoping some nice person on here can give me advice on the best places to source one and also roughly how much il need to set aside to pay for it

its a w reg mk2 ph1

im missing it already

Sorry to here about your misfortune, the best advise is pay to be a member - it will gain you access to both the for sale section where you can look for one 2nd hand, and also to the specialist section - I have no doubt there will be a specialist near you which will be able to help

i was kinda expecting that 1 to come along, gonna have 2 nip 2 the bank n slap some cash in methinks, £12 is nada for getting ma wee pocket rocket going again.

why not spend the money repairing your engine then you know youll have a good one and it will last.
can never garrentee the condition of a 2nd hand engine

Last time I checked you couldn't get oversized bearings for the f4r.

i take the the engine i have is the f4r then only had the car a few months so alot to learn lol , engine repair is a possability, i just assumed it would be cheaper to replace the whole thing

TBH it would be. It is an F4R 730 in yours, however, a 732, 736 will also fit.

how about all the plugs that bolt onto the existing engine will they also just plug into the new one, if not how different are they?? im basicly looking to straight swap so a 730 , a 732 and a 736 will all do that??

They all bolt up. use your existing manifolds. the 730 has the better exhaust ports though.

looking on ebay and it seems like its gonna b around 4-500 quid for a new engine, guess il need 2 get saving b4 i con do anything

Who would do the work for you? Are you looking for a drive in - drive out thing or would you fit the engine yourself?

I have a spare bottom end as I need the head but your head would work on my build. My engine needs the belt done but that's no biggy, I could do that for you.

my friend is going to doing it in his own time hes a mechanic, sed he would od it as long as i sourced an engine

ah again not sure, i took in2 a garage, when i pulled up the mechanic was outside so i rev it so he could hear the niose it makes , instantly said the big end was away

Granted, but how many big ends let go compared to dephasers? And the mechanic said it "sounds" like big end.

Probably some back street monkey who hasnt a clue about the F4R......... like the owner by all accounts
