engine rattle???

hi i have a clio 172 and when i rev the engine i can hear a rattling noise its annoying me now as to what it could be any ideas anybody?

something in the engine that rattles when you rev it, hmmm could be anything. Just to help though I say its bigends.

engine cover, fuel rail guard, dephaser pulley, tappets, bearings etc. i need to consider the crystal ball....

get someone to rev it wehile you listen so you can atleast tell people the general area its coming from.

exhaust heat shield, bend it a little away from the exhaust.

i got my bro to rev whilst i had a listen and its coming from the top on the left hand side above the cam belt

Could be - does it sound like a diesel on tickover and does the sound dissapear after 1,500 - 2,000 rpm?
if so could indeed be dephaser pulley

yea thats exactly how it sounds and yea u cant hear it once ur driving or its over 2.000 rpm, well i need a new cambelt n aux belt doin so ill get it all done in one go if thats the problem, cheers ducman

No worries mate. That is a real stroke of luck that you need the Cam and Aux belt done anyways. Whole job can be done at the same time - Nice one. Good luck with it

I'd give the lads a Birchdown a call and let them sort it out for you. They quoted me a good price for both belts and a new dephaser to be fitted.

well ive got the belts and ive already got a guy goin to do it for me just need to find a dephaser pulley
