engine swap in a mk1 clio

a m8 of mine is thinking of gettign a new engine for his lil 1.2 mk1 clio and i had the idea of a sport engine. Would it fit sizewise im sure it would need new engine mounts etc. And yes i realise it would need upgraded suspension and brakes etc etc but would it fit/work?? just a crazy idea

the 2.0 has been done, over in france, think GDI are looking at it, sounds like a pipe dream of your mates, if hes serious speak to Ben R..

Reno 5 gt turbo engines fit as do 1.7 volvo turbos.

yep, they are pretty much a stright swap, im pretty sure they use the same sub frame & engine mounts.
be cheaper too.

volvo 1.7T, Clio 1.8 8v, 1.8 16v, 2.0 16v or even megane or renault 19 engines...

hmmmm sounds cool il have to talk him into it lol so what do you guys recon the best engine would be. in respects of price/weight/power/relability
