Engine Transplant!

Anyone know roughly how much it would cost to upgrade an engine from a 1.2 to a 1.4 or 1.6? And what would you need to change apart from the engine itself?

A said go to a 172 forget the other engine for the effort.
172 conversion you an get for £1.5k+vat from Matt 01254 386661. Then your might as well change the ball joints/wishbones/top mounts/clutch/cambelt etc so say another £300 in new bits. Then fitment depends on the car your got but say 1 week.

For similicity you need to change
Radiator
fuel pump
engine
gearbox
driveshafts
Anti roll bar
hubs
suspension
brakes
whole wiring loom
dashboard clocks.
You could figure other ways round it using remaped stock ECU etc but not worth the hastle.

Aye, i thought about it when i had my last car, but does work out far cheaper to sell your car, and buy a 172 ph1 than mess about swapping engines fella.

Also, having tested a few, the 1.2's, 1.4's are really no difference speedwise. Be lots of money for very little gain mate.
