Engine whirring noise coming through my radio!

When i have my radio on with the engine running there is a flikering noise in the background that increases with revs, if i turn my engine off the noise goes! im sure some1 on here had the same problem before. any ideas???

If it only does it on radio, Check the earth on your aerial !

If it does it on CD playback, check the earth on the set.

If that doesn't cure it, check the capacitor on the alternator.

yes it is only on radio, where do i check? where the aeriel is bolted to the roof behind the courtesy light???

also the alternator is only 2 months old so i doubt its that

Yes thats the place, above the light.
make sure the metal under the star washer is bright and clean then re-tighten the nut.

Even if the alternator is new, it could still be that,.

Another thought.....check the engine earth strap.

On my mates hyundai coupe if you stuck the radio on MW it picked up the engine revs... he didn't do anything about it tho it was kinda cool lol

i have the same issue!

you need a voltage supresser on the alternator.... easy fix mate

good motor factors will sell em, maybe even get one from halfrauds....
