Exc?

hi, new member here

recently bought myself a mk1 1.8 clio

on the right side instrament panel - where the abs light is etc - there is a light marked 'EXC', was just wondering what it was for?

there is also another above it, that i have no idea what its for, will try to get a pic up (damn lack of AA batteries)

infact, the only symbols i recognise are the ABS and the Hazard lights (at the bottom)

Top one looks like brake pad warning light I think.
4th down looks like a choke light.
I always wondered what the box with the wiggle lines through it meant on my old 1.2

the one with the lines i think is an ECU fault of some sort, think its to do with the fueling
