Exhaust bolts keep untightening themselves (KTEK Stealth)

Got a Ktek steel stealth exhaust and am having problems with the 2 bolts that join the cat to centre section. Every 2 weeks they seem to work themselves loose , and the exhaust starts blowing loudly. Tighten them up and its fine for another while till it happens again.

Is there sometype of nut and bolt that i can buy which wont work itself loose. Possibly a locking thing or something.

Is it worth me replacing the gasket material here too aswell as the bolts.

Its a great exhaust , nice noise, not too loud. BUT THE FITTING IS A PILE OF DOG POO. It hangs so low that I catch on speedhumps , ive tried rotating the centre mount on the exhaust and then hung it buts still too low. Tried all sorts but it still doesnt hang anywhere near as good as the standard exhaust.

Why not put some Loctite on the thread and nuts, it’s kind of like superglue and will stop them coming loose. You cat get it at Halfords etc.

PMSL at using thread lock or nylocs on a hot exhaust. Will melt very quickly


The only thing you can use as a thread lock on exhausts is exhaust paste

I'd be looking for the cause though, either you're not tightening up enough, or your exhaust mounts are failing and the whole lot is swinging about. This sounds very likely TBH, as you say it's badly fitting and too low. You need decent mounts

I'm no expert, but you can get high temperature Loctite, that's why I recommended it.

how about using proper exhaust locking nuts? (they have an oval internal shape to them so they bite into the thread) just an idea

Or the simplest method of all tighten it up, then tighten a secondary bolt onto the thread to lock it, worked on every car ive had.

Its totally fine. Used it on mine as a back up and it doesnt melt

I've used all kinds of lock nuts and IME they just ruin the threads if you ever try to take them off again. Fine on a bolt which is cheap and easy to change, but on a stud it's a t**t
