Exhaust has finally given up the ghost!!!

After 5 years and nearly 36k my original 172 exhaust has started blowing.
I was gonna stick some of that exhaust repair stuff on it untill I get a few quotes to replace it. I'm not interested in getting a stainless one as I'm only gonna keep the car for another year then sell it.
Anyone have any ideas on a cheap and cheerful replacement?

If ur deffo not gonna keep it for the long term your best bet is a Non Renault pattern one company called 'chester exhausts' do them. I got mine from a company called GMF.

Genuine works out almost as expensive as a stainless.

Done a search on google for 'chester exhausts' but don't seem to have a website unless I'm missing something. You don't have a website addy do you?. Also what sort of price did you pay if you don't mind me asking.

there are no exhausts available on the aftermarket for the 172/182 yet. and by that i mean standard exhausts i.e oem pattern parts. i know as i work in the parts trade

a mate of mine has some kind of weird back box on his, looks like either a 206 or 306 kind of box. hell knows what it is???

you can bodge anything to fit if you're desperate....

I have looked in the forsale section and on ebay, with no joy.
Gonna ring exhaust a fix and see how much a custom job would cost.
The back-box is blowing at the join going into the rear part of the box, if that makes any sense.
Might just get a back box as i don't think i need a centre section yet.

Funny that........ no oem pattern parts, because today I got a centre section and back box fitted for £160 inc vat and labour. Two year warranty as well. It's not stainless steel/fancy k-tec etc... superduper makes my car go 200mph, but as I'm getting rid next year who cares.

yeah i got onto a place in guildford and they would do one for £114 for the back box and £170 for the center pipe all fitted. It can be done

according to the 2008 walker, bosal, and timax catalogues the 172 isnt even listed. we rang the manufacturers direct and were told nothing is available on the aftermarket as of yet. if there is then fair enough but those 3 main manufacturers dont make them, and if they did they would be alot more expensive than that.

for that kind of money it will be something cheap and nasty i.e energy, bm or benson etc. generally have less silencing an arent a very good fit...if they fit at all.

As long as it passes the emissions test and doesn't fall off, then I'm a happy bunny matey.
Cheap and cheerful, it seems to fit the bill in my opinion anyway's.

I went throught the walker and bosal etc catalogs and you are right they dont list them. I almost gave up looking but they are out there. Mine was made by a company begining with 'A'

Ardvark or Advan or something. I only bought a rear box but it Fitted fine to a stock genuine centre (got second hand) was much quieter than a ktec. Yea probably wont last more than a year or so but i sold the car the next day so what do i care
