Exhaust has melted my bumper surrounds (Pics)

  TrackCar & F30 330d
My Exhaust is sat slightly to the right, and after my blast round Abingdon airfield it's melted the sh*t out of one of the bumper exhaust surrounds.
I'm not really sure on what to search for, but basically i want to know if people have put some padding in the brackets to push it over the other side. And what can you use as the padding?
Thanks

is that teh K-tec Ultra exhaust? looks very nice - how does it sound?

i'm guessing it wasn't fitted at K-tec cos they'd have done it right surely....

not sure if its just the angle of the picture but both pipes look out of place to me (like they've been bent in opposite directions)?

a little bit of hose pipe or an old socket . cable tied into the exhaust mount.

Yes it's the K-tec Ultra Exhaust, I think it sounds really good. Really really loud tho tho. I drive it every day to work and luckly for my ears it's 50mph speed limit all the way so its not too bad.

Its a bad picture really. It's been fitted very well. It's just a tiny bit over to the right. It must just vibrate around a but when i'm ragging it about.

Cable tieing it should solve my problem and then i can buy a new surround :)

i take it you went for the version without the centre silencer then if it's that loud?

i'm looking for a new exhaust for mine but nothng too loud so just curious. does look the part though - might just have to invest in a set of ear muffs for driving! lol

Mine did that at first, can't remember why tbh! Something to do with movement from the engine, and heat in the fresh pipes iirc, but i'm no expert. We had to stick a bar in it to nudge it back, run it, and repeat a few times. It moved slightly on the long ride home, but soon settled down, and it never really happened again. Not very helpful maybe, but that's what happened to me.

Yep centre silencer removed, de-cat, and the exhaust. It tested 93.9 db at 4,500rpm which isnt too bad.

Not everyone likes K-tec's exhaust, but i love it. I'l do a video of what it sounds like at some point. Theres a 2 vid's on youtube of what it sound like from inside when i was at abindon airfield (tho is was my first track time so i'm driving a bit cr*p) lol
Worth a look if you thinking of getting some sort of Exhaust :)

k-tec is a really poor quality brand - i had a R5 with a 2000pounds ktec built engine & still broke down on me, took it to a specialist they said parts were of cheap quality.
Now i have a 172cup with a 182ktr exhaust and its not that well made, which is a shame when they charge neally 400+ for the unit
