Fantastic Renault Service - HONEST!

Took the day off today so I could travel out of my way to a Renault Garage around 30 mins from my house to get my washer balls refitted. I have a local dealer about 10 mins away but I chose to take my car to Gravells. It is in a little rural Welsh town called Kidwelly which is a bit out in the stix and this is the only business in the whole town and it certainly shows ! What fantastic customer service they provide ! As soon as I parked up a mechanic waved and had a smile on his face, is this Renault ?????? I went in and booked my car in and what did I see ? Yip, a new Clio Cup sitting in the showroom, more of that later. After booking in my car I was walking over to the shop and the son of the owner of the garage walked over with me, he is assistant manager there and was asking me about the car. I ended up speaking to him for ages about imports, warranties, etc. and he said that he would have done the exact same thing and bought an import. He was a very nice guy too ! All in all I would highly recommend this garage to any Welsh Clio owners ! Superb !

As for the Cup, well I have to admit that I was not impressed. The only thing I liked different to the 172 was the wheels, they are stunning ! The interior just did not do it for me and with the loss of all the toys I dont think I would buy one over an import 172, but still a nice car of course ! The colour looks different in the flesh too ! I took loads of pics of it which I will try and post later if anybody is interested !

Oh yeah and they did a great job on the minor job of fixing my washer balls ! My car feels whole again !

Daipac, if you like the Cups wheels so much, why dont you get some for your car? They are Speedline Turinis, but I expect you know that! I like them too, but I also like my Super Ts.

Pleased that you also have an excellent Renault dealer, just like we have here, they arent all useless!

GR, I was thinking about it, would want them in 17s tho ! Can you buy them or are they special to the Cup ? They look a bit like Super Ls anyway but maybe if I got these then they would not change my insurance ???? As they are official Renault wheels ?

Anybody know ?

Hmmmmmmmm, could be interesting then ! I do like the Toora Platinum 8s too tho but these definitely interest me ! Wonder how much they will be for 17s plus rubber ?

Anybody know how it would affect my insurance with Tesco if I changed my standard wheels for the Speedlines ?

In my case, with Norwich Union Direct I had to pay another £30 for the year when I went up to 17" Super Ts, think it was for the stealability and replacement of them if they are stolen.

Have you had a look? You can just click and you are in!

Yeah I am looking now, thanks for the link ! £30 is very good, Tesco wanted £120+ if I remember correctly !

£849 inc. tyres for 17" Turinis from that site, not too bad.

Have you got a specialist tyre place near you Daipac? There is one not far from me (SKIDZ) who will beat any quote from anyone for wheels. Often the independents can beat the big companies and they appreciate your custom more, like smaller garages do.

GR, you do realise that most insurance companies dont actually cover your mods, they just charge you more cos your car is either more likely to get stolen, or its faster

BRUN, are you sure ? So if you do not tell them you have changed the wheels surely you will NOT be covered then ?

Been in touch with Renault, 17" Turinis for £150 each without tyres. Not too bad I suppose.

yes im sure, afaik only Adrian Flux cover your mods, but, ive heard a pretty bad story about them so ive moved company

and yea, if you dont tell em, your insurance could, and most likely would, be voided by them

Daipac,

Tesco wanted £127 extra for the year and £50 extra on my excess, to change to OZ Superleggeras.

Rick, that is crazy ! Absolutely crazy ! No way would I do that now, way too much ! I wonder if this would be the same changing to official Renault alloys, hmmmmmmm, going to have to check this out.

All stuff connected with Insurance companies is CRAZY, some people even wonder why they bother taking it out, because when making a claim they usually pay out so little, which doesnt even cover the cost of replacing a specific car, when looking at the prices of identical ones for sale.

I have heard reports of drivers paying a fine of say £200, when their insurance might have cost them £900. Obviously everyone has to have insurance in case someone else gets injured as they could sue you.

I had to pay an extra £30 with Norwich Union Direct for my 17" Super Ts, although according to the guy at Renault, my standard wheels cost £148 each, which is actually MORE than the Super Ts cost each.

So if my standard 172 wheels were pinched they would cost more to replace than the Super Ts!

Work that out!! It is a rip-off.

Daipac,

Just spoke to Tesco insurance, £850 worth of alloys is now an extra £161 per year. £500 worth of alloys was £141 extra.
