FAO Anyone with Powerflex Bushes

  BMW M135i
I've changed my rear dogbone mount bushes for the uprated powerflex bushed which ktec sell and whilst gearchange is much better and engine movement is far less i've got one problem, vibration.

When the engine is idling the whole car vibrates, pick the revs up slightly and its fine. Basically the slight vibration on idle which the old bushes smoothed out aren't being anymore and the vibrations are being transferred to the body.

Will this go with time as the bushes bed in or is it time to refit the originals ?

Righto out they come then, pitty as the plus sides are great. Will shake the car to pieces if I leave them I think.

I find with the 1600's though that idle is generally not that great anyway....

No it wobbled around before, but I guess the original bushes damped it out. Hmm, in two minds atm will stick it out for a bit see if I can put up with it.
Will probably go back to the original bushes I think, already being bounced about by my apex kit and this as well is just too much.

Its a real shame as gearchange is sooo much better with these in.

Ive heard alot of people on here say they solve the knockoing etc etc, but do cause vibration. Thats why i have never bothered :(

Yeh I was aware of the vibration issues but never expected it to be like this, it feels like a mates TVR just without the 350bhp and lunacy to go with it.

Do make the 'box much nicer to use, has shortened the throw a little and its much more tighter especially when coming down the box. Will have to go for a run and see if I think its worth it, if it only idled about 200rpm higher it'd be fine. If it were a carb i'd be laughing.

Id probably live with vibration if it improves gearchange and all round drivability because the original bushes to precisely fuk other than stop the engine falling out, there so soft. you really can feel the engine jerking all over the show when you change gear!

I should type faster, didnt realise it'd be THAT bad ^^^^

Oh yeah the ammount of play in the original bushes when I had the mount in the vice was unreal. I've had the engine hit the bulkhead a few times when its wheelspun so thought i'd give these a try and for all their good points they've got a big f**king bad one.

Me too, when you change into second at 6.5k without double clutching it t***s the bulkhead!

Imagine what its like in my race clio,on tick over it rattles your teeth out,but high up the rev range she sings like bird

I know but if its a race car its always above 4k so rattle isnt a problem! Trying to balance stiffness and comfort on an everyday car is a mission....
