My clio is a 2001 X plate mk1 172.
I've just put it through its mot, (at the garage where i work) and emissions should have been 0.5, mine were 9,7!!
The mechanic said my cat must be hollow?! Not as far as i know swwet cheeks, try it again!

Needless to say, out it came, 9.7!
So, is there a sports cat i can buy that will help me pass the mot? as mine is obviously up the creek.
Renault want 370 + vat for a genuine item, and they don't list non gen cats for 2.0 clios!!! I'm fucked if i'm paying that!

Or theres this option, Will a 172 mk2 cat fit? i've got one on the forecourt and i could swap it for an hour just to 'ease it through' its test.

Any help would be so appreciated!!

Try Euro Car Parts or GSF for cheap parts.

172 cats differ - a mk2 wont fit a mk1. If you work at the garage why dont you just reverse another car up to the MOT bay and stick the emissions probe in the back box of the other car ???? Other option is fit a new cat

no mate it wont - there are 4 different types all with different fixtures and fittings. You can try but i think you will find out the hard way
