Favour wanted from CUP owners

Hi all. posted this last night but due to server issues it has gone, so am re-posting a shorter to the point version.

I have a load of water leaked into my passenger footwell... after investigation i have found a 10p sized hole under the carpet under my passenger seat.... The hole is meant to be there but maybe ive lost some kind of plug...

Will someone with a cup (OR maybe its the same on a 172) please have a look under their passenger seat and you will see the carpet joins together there.. Its easy to just pull it back slightly to see the bare floor... you will see a small section which has two layers of metal one on top of the other with about a CM between them... the top layer has 4 oval type holes, and the bottom (ground) layer is where the hole is!.. you will either see THE ROAD! (like me!) or nothing as you have your pluggy thing in there...

If someone could check then that would be great, thanks and ive found my leak... BUT if you can see the road AND your not flooded then oh! i gotta look elsewhere!

As I mentioned earlier. This sounds like a simple floor grommet has fallen out.

Have you been to the dealers yet to get one?

Agreed... Ive had this in the past on a previous car, just a grommet missing!

Rich-D:when this happened to you did you take on any water??.. as im worried about corrision... ... how do i make sure 100% that rust wont occur once the gromment has been replaced???

i had the same thing.

its a renault, it will corrode anyway.

it wond do it much good, but i wouldnt worry, just plug it, and let the carpets dry out.

wax it or silicone it if you are worried.

the whole bodyshell will have corrosion deterants so its nothing that youll ever have to worry about espicially with a 12 year anti corrosion warranty anyway. sounds like a bung is missing so see your dealer.

Thanks peeps really put my mind at rest, it was quite scary seeing quite a relatively large puddle in the footwell!!!

... hehe dave, yeh, ive an annoying ironic name huh!

Taken to Reno st albans (Very very good service, highly recommended after they repaired my oil leak from the 8 (yes 8) sheared off bolts LAST WEEK!) and its booked in for monday... asked for a megane 225 for a hire car as a joke, he laughed and put "megane" on the form thingie.. hehe hmm, wonder if ill get one??.. 99% it will be a bogo one...
