Few Ph1 172 Questions...

Fuel Filter:

I've heard these don't need doing/can't be done on the ph2, is it something I should do on the ph1???

As you can see, I have quite frankly no idea about it as it's not something I've ever had to do/deal with.

Gear Oil:

What's the gear oil capacity on these?? Necessary to get pricey stuff or will "Car Lube" stuff from ECP do??

Ta very much.

IIrc its 3 litres? of gearbox oil i did read on here when i did mine.

Just fill it till its spilling out the fill hole

Fuel filter doesnt need changing until a silly amount of miles... the PH-1 runs an inline fuel filter, PH-2 is in the tank.

Please use a decent gear oil (cough.. search function? ;)) 74w80 GL5 synthetic, the Fuchs stuff is pretty good!

I've got two brand new ph1 fuel filters sat in their boxes at home.
I should really stick them on here, they are cheap anyway, so I'd just change it

Depends how much crap you keep in the bottom of your tank... ;-)

Get 519 Danny to do your 'box lube. You're not ruining my driveway/garage/house AGAIN young lady !!!!

Danny was going to do the Lube, but it's such an easy job when you know how... I also saw the perfect funnel from Halfords, so no need for us to try ruining that pump again ;)

funnel and a hose pipe for the gear oil... ;)

isn't the fuel filter scheduled to be changed at 144K?

I've never seen anything about it Gray, so not a clue.

TEG's a bit scared of gear oil after we destroyed his garage floor tarting about with my 1.2 before I got rid.

I'm a lot more experienced now days ;)

Oh and why expensive gear oil? The eurocarparts stuff not any good?

use tack and shifting can be quite lumpy. JC5 is a steaming pile of poo why add insult to injury by feeding it garbage
