First Aviation shots 'Red Arrow'

Was very cloudy and I was not actually at the show but on my Balcony about a mile away from the action, but luckily they were flying near our flat when they were not performing.

Still have had to crop heavily, but ok for first attempts, may edit the colours with photoshop a little at work tomorrow to get a bit more colour in the sky.

Did you use a tripod too, they look very "steady"

No tripod, just panned and followed the plane as soon as it came in to view.

Now I know these shots were hand held, they are even more impressive and your timing is impeccable, unless you have cropped them to make them look fantastic , either way, brilliant!

I can't wait to get to grips with my D80 and start producing anything near as good as these.

Has been cropped, but plane was in centre of uncropped image too. It was all in the panning to be honest, and hoping the camera would focus quickly enough on a rather fast moving object!!
