First go at low light pictures.....

Had my first go at low light pics tonight, after putting the other thread up the other day.

Took them with a combination of a speedlight and a torch. Problems that i can immediately see are reflections and the car being wet, apart from that i'm quite pleased with them for a first go :)

Comments welcome!

Yep first 2 are great, good effort. Did you light them at all or was it a long shutter and tripod jobbie?

Not bad for a first go!

What aperture/shutter speed were you using? It seems the torch is struggling to light the car enough, which might be down to the settings you chose on the camera.

Off the top of my head, those torch lit ones are 15s shutter, f11, iso100. Could also be down to the torch i was using, only led one i have is the CS one  I nearly bought a big LED one the other day too!

Not bad !

If you need more light, try a longer shutter time .. also, white balance needs to be cooooooooled right off, to take that wonderful orange glow out of the pic.

My first attempts were shoooooite. You dun good :approve:

There were loads of orange light about in that location, but i do have raw copies of the images so will have a play with them tonight.

Looking really good Mike, I'm impressed! When I've got the arctic upto par we shall have to get a shoot arranged! :)

Obviously with your camera lol

Definitely!

As Dan says 'Need moar power'. Those cheap 1-2 million candlepower torches should do the job

Saw one at the range the other day, was 98 LED i think, 2D. Tried it out and it was really powerfull, about £16 iirc. Will pick one of them up :)

I have always found the 'power of a million candles' ones pretty rubbish :(
