First Mods: IK and Sport Cat

Hi guys just after some advice on the following,

Im after a bit more power but dont want to sacrifice any comfort, basically i still want to be able to drive around without hearing much noise in the car, im getting older so a big exhaust is out of the question.

I have been reading that the standard cat in the clio is very restrictive, is it worth just upgrading to a sports cat and leaving the rest of the system alone? From what i have read even though some think the build quality is poor is that the Janspeed 200cell cat is the way to go. Will this give me any gains on a standard car or is it a pointless exercise? im not after big gains but just want the car to rev a bit more freely up past the 6000rpm range.

Im also looking at IK's from what i have read the ITG maxogen is best, well either that or just the maxogen panel, once again not after big power but just a better breathing system and a few extra ponies would be nice :)

Also lookin at the GRP N ecu is this overkill for these mods or should i just stick with the standard ecu?

Cheers guys!

I think most ppl will say maxogen and de-cat/sports cat. I think the cat does play a reasonably big part in power on a clio! I'm not sure yet, i havent fitted mine yet..

anyone no where i can get new fasteners and gasket for ma k4m cat-manifold flange?

Decat
Cat back exhaust
Inlet Manifold match
ITG Panel Filter
Remap of standard ECU + rolling road session

  Clio 172 mk2
Green, K&N or ITG panel with Janspeed sports cat and exhaust.

Then move onto inlet match and ecu mapping/grp n ecu

Thanks for the help guys but i was actually asking if it is worth just upgrading the cat only, no exhaust and an IK kit later on, like i said i dont want a loud exhaust but am wanting the engine to breathe a little eaiser.

if the restriction is in the exhaust too then i guess here is not pint upgrading the cat only right?

Did anone even bother to read my first post lol, i should i make them incoherent like ahmet?

IK and power increase in the same sentence is a contradiction. Dont waste your cash on a sports cat, get yourself a decat.

get a decat mate, mine definately revs better now.. didnt add any extra noise though, which was disappointing

justin, will be one of those things mate. Ask someone to drive your car down the road and give it beans. I never knew what mine sounded like from outside, was pleasantly surprised - certainly something a video clip doesn't capture.

Clidge, they are in essence. A piece of metal tubing with a flange on either end, if it's designed for the 172, then it will be as good as any other. Only possible limiting factor would be the diameter of of decat, most are 3" though IIRC.

Out of choice Janspeed seem fairly priced, but speak to Fred/Y0z - they'll sort you out.

Ah.

Completely illegal? :/

Well, i guess then a sports cat is the way to go, but given how shocking the OE exhaust is, i wouldn't bother even modding it.
