First post - request for advice

Hi,I own a 197 F1 Team. It's coming up for it's 5 year service and I've had an estimate from the usual garage where I take it, they've quoted 150 for the service and then 595 for the cambelt part (inc cambelt change, auxilary belt and tensioner and crank shaft pulley) - all inc parts, VAT and labour. Firstly, does this seem a reasonable price for the work? Secondly, they can't actually do the work as apparently it requires a special tool they don't have, so can anyone recommend anywhere in the Wiltshire area that may be able to do the 5 year service? Going to ring the local Renault main dealer later but I'm guessing their estimate will be astronomical! Cheers

Don't take it to Renault. Definitely use a specialist. Price maybe seems a little expensive, but I'm not talking that much. From what I've heard it's normally around the £500 mark for a full cambelt change.

Not sure what else there is near you. But K-tec aren't too far. In Verwood. I'd definitely give it to them if it was me.

Also if it were me, I'd use your needed belt change as an opportunity for an extra £500-£600 quid to get a cam package installed. Without a dought. Something similar to this:

I would go for 438 cams.. Not sure what K-Tec use.

Im about to have my belts, dephaser, brake and coolant fluid changed, braded hoses, exhaust mount changed with k tec all for a nick over £700 always a spot on job with them on my 172 and they will even advise you on things on the way out always a 110% service from them
