Drivers side - you will have to move or remove the carbon canister. If you remove it, search on how to do so as you can have bad effects on the car, so I've been told.

Passengers side - you will have to move or remove the acoustic valve.

I took both of mine out to fit the ducts, both were easy, it's just case of knowing what to unplug, and which tubes to block etc.

For the acoustic valve, I followed a guide on cliotrophy.co.uk forums.

I wouldn't want to comment on the 172 carbon canister, as I think it's different to the 182, but not 100% sure!

ahhhh ok sure someone will be along to help soon lol... all the guides iv ever seen to take them out has never been on a ph1 and i dont recal many people talking about taking them out of a ph1

al i actually remember seeing behind the pasanger side is the horn ? i think?

i think that is all thats in the way on the passanger side its just the drivers side that has alot of stuff there havnt looked proply but it looks like a black plastic box? would that be the carbon canister ?

I followed this for CC removal:

1) open bonnet and locate piping to inlet manifold from charcoal filter. Cut pipe and seal with a stop or cap.(make sure this is done well or the pressure from the inlet will suck the cap into the inlet manifold causing damage)

2)remove front o/s wheel arch liner and you will see the charcoal filter(black box with 2 pipes and 1 sensor connected.). Undo 3 x 13mm long bolts. Keep filter upright or you will spill some of the contents. Unplug filter, disconnect piping. That's the filter gone!

3)from top of the car, pull the wiring back up and remove the sensor from the top of charcoal filter by twisting/pulling. It is a tight fit but only held by a rubber o-ring. reconnect cable and mount somewhere hidden with cable ties or tape. make sure you do this well.(don't want it falling into the fan etc)WITHOUT SENSOR FAULT CODE 443 WILL OCCUR.

4) remove all the pipe including the 2 clips on the chasis. do not cut the pipe till you have made sure you are removing the correct pipe. there are 2 that run under the car fairly near the exhaust on the off side of the car.

Once you have uncliped the pipe from the car and have reached the pipe clip by the middle exhaust mount cut the pipe and seal using another stop/cap. i have used a bolt with large thread pattern which is very secure. allow enough pipe so you can clip it back in neatly as pictured.

5) after refitting the o/s wheel arch and making sure everything is secure. Start the car and all should be well. This modification still allows the fuel tank to breathe through filler cap vent.

ok so if i dont fully remove it is thier any were it can be moved to ? what does it actually do as iv never come across one befor?

Carbon Canisters decrease the amount of air pollution the vehicle creates while at the same time increasing its fuel efficiency. Even when the engine is turned off, hydrocarbons are produced. This occurs in the form of fuel vapour rising in the fuel tank. Carbon Canisters trap that vapor rather than allow it to escape the fuel tank, feeding it back into the engine..

As for the A/V iirc it should be located at the end of the pipe coming from....

I'm not disagreeing with what they do put its not given me worse mpg.

The thing is if anything they are going to slightly hurt performance as it just purges the vapours into the intake essentially changing the air/fuel ratio. Plus is weighs a couple of kilos and makes an annoying clicking noise so its worth getting rid of IMO!

Sorry to bring up an old thread guys but im looking to fit brake ducts to my 182...

I read somewhere that you can move the horns.... or can you just cut the bracket and remove one to fit a ducting through the gap ??
Also I read that you can move the carbon canister, i don't want to remove it cause im confused about it.... but how can it be moved, can you twist it out of the way or something?
Cheers guys

i have managed to fit my brake ducting around the carbon cansister so it didnt need to be removed atall, and for the other side i just bent the bracket that the horns are atached to out of the way simpless when you look at it

I'm saving the planet and recycling this thread..

Just binned my carbon canister and left the fuel pipe to vent, but after reading the above, would i be better to feed it back into the inlet direct?
I could smell the fumes pouring out of it whilst working on the car.

Regarding relocating the horn - i found a small hole in the top of the wheel arch which allowed me to mount the horn upside down and away from the brake duct.
