Fitting Cat Back Exhaust

Afternoon all,

How easy will it be to fit the new Ktec Stealth exhaust? Is it a simple enough job on the driveway backed up on ramps? Basically, my backbox snapped off the other day and am in need of a new exhaust. I had to cut the rubber star shapped mount when taking the old backbox off so not sure if i will need a pro to fit the new one?

Any help, advice appreciated.

I'm not sure how much the Ktec one replaces but its easier chnaging exhaust on a 4 post ramp by miles you can do it on a drive though if you want.

Center section and backbox i think... not to sure about new brackets though. I may be better off getting it fitted by a garage then. Any idea how much i should expect to pay?

I stuck my own Stealth on, just get the car as high as you can! dremmel off bolts from the cat as they will be rusted up. Much quicker with a dremmel than trying to undo. All brackets adjustable on the Stealth system, this helps to get a knock free fit. Mine is fine so far.

Going to take mine to a small but quality exhaust fitters and they will fit my new stealth system and YS decat for £30/40 !
GDI quoted me £105 !
So pays to shop around or get your hands dirty !

If you've cut the rubber exhaust mount for the backbox. I'd imagine you'll need a new mount. I've just had the same problem on ine.

Cheers guys, got it booked into my local garage to get the work done tommorow... hopefully be around the £40 mark. I confirmed with Ktec that i would need a new mount so have ordered one of them too.

Cant wait to get it on, will post some videos when done.

nice one, i would like to see/hear this as i'm thinks about getting one:D

me too. do you have to cut the rubber to get the back box off then?? have just fitted the YS decat so am wanting to do the rest now! ps. does anyone know if you can buy the centre section and backbox separately from K Tec cos my bank balance is running a little dry and dont know if i can afford the £350 straight off...

I had to cut the rubber to get the backbox off... basically there is metal inside the rubber and the exhaust mount rusts to it. A new mount is £21 from ktec or you can but a normal rubber mount and cable tie into the metal bracket like a fwe people have done.

Mine is still not fitted, but as soon as it is i will get the videos up.

Had my ktec stealth and YS decat fitted earlier today and its a pretty good fit. The decat is about 1/2 inch or so longer then the stock cat so it has pushed the whole system back. It was fine until a trial run when as it got hot it expanded and knocked on the rear spoiler so a quick trim was necessary to solve this (underneath part of bumber so you cant see from above). Its now fine, the back box is quite big and not that silencing on full throttle. I replaced the rear mount with a new OE one and is sound, no knocking or rattling. Although my dash light has come on already :(
Ktec wont sell the back box separately as i pleaded with them to no avail.
Will try and get some pics and sound clips up soon :)
