Well after this today. I will more than likely be breaking the clio, it's needs about 1.5-2k spending on it, and I think it's now time to move on to something else. :dapprove:

Cheers Nick :)

His aux belt is about to s**t itself and there's a bad oil or pas fluid leak :(

Your torque wrench would come in handy mate.

Had a proper look around the Fletchbus today. quite a bit of oil had collected around the aux belt area, more then likely from a power steering pump leak.

Chris fixed the horn though

Thanks for the help today Chris, Tim :)

Glad you're keeping it mate, good idea to sorn it in my eyes. Ill miss the sight of it at meets but it'll be good to have a break from it then go back to it with guns blazing and go mental with some bodies ;)

Definitely a recognised forum favourite this. It appears to simply keep going and going! :)

D.

Yes Darren, I've had it for 6.5 years now.

I'll bring the smokey Derv to the south central meets. ;)

Yeah having it SORN made sense. I'll get some parts sorted and see what happens..

Just remove the power steering altogether. Relatively simple to do and stops the inevitable happening.

I have toyed with the idea of removed PAS mate.

Dont, just dont. YOU WILL HATE IT!

Having deleted the powersteering on my mk1 clio and it being pretty good to drive, the mk2 is completely different! Stupidly heavy and really not worth it, just get yourself a new pump from Renault, something like a £150 which isnt really a lot. Especially now your going to keep it and spend a fortune on it! ;)

Quite a few people have said that they're silly heavy with PAS removed shame, as IIRC PAS delete frees up a few ponies.

"keep it and spend a fortune" you know me to well Nick ;)

Did you get rid of PAS on your 172 Cup then Nick?

Is it heavy all the time or just at low speed?

Nah took it off my Mk1 Clio Tim, that was a lot lighter than the Mk2 clio I drove. Was just generally horrible to drive in comparison, and at slow speeds it was horrific!

It does free up a bit more bhp but of all the things i'd do removing the PAS is not one i'd do personally.

Ok, thought you meant you'd done it.

Dont know if this is possible on clio's but a few 106/saxos are toying with the idea of running a switch to the PAS pump. On for normal driving, then switch it off on track. Not sure on the amount of work involved though.

Iirc Tony and Jay have this on the race car as they have a Saxo pump. They never turn it off, I'd like to go down the Saxo pump route tbh.
