Fletch's 150k 172 Project..

^^^Not yet Ollie, I can seem to find the same paint in the shops ATM :dapprove:

I had a good time at the Castle Combe Forge action day on Sat. The car was faultless (touches wood) and felt pretty quick in both sessions, oh the DS3000 pads and 4 pots were quite frankly epic TBH.

A pic that Peter took.

......Roll on the RS day at Brands Hatch on the 22nd of Sep.

Getting the R888s fitted tomorrow :)

Still looking into polo carb windows too. Just wondering how hard they are to fit?

I asked Matt at TDF about poly carbs as he's doing a 172 racecar at moment. He said they don't remove the glass themselves they get a glass fitter to remove it because if it breaks its difficult to remove all the little pieces of glass left bonded on. Actually fitting the poly carbs should be fairly easy I reckon.

That photo from 'Combe looks awesome! :D

Cheers mate.

Thanks for asking mate.

I said you wanted to smash it with a hammer and Matt advised against it LOL

Lol :o

And he's not wrong either it's a total s**t to do. Had a fitter in to do mine

I've got some hoses mate, I'll drop you a ring if I need some more.

Only done around 15 miles with the R888s fitted so far. First impressions are very good, awesome tyres!

Are you getting another set soon Tom?

nothing else yet just playing around with a few fancy induction options atm.
yeah i am supprised at how long they have lasted tbh.

I shall do need some ideas on what else to take out but leave the front semi normal for a bit of comfort (if thats possible in a clio)

*****22nd September Brands Hatch Renault Sport Track Day*****

I had a great time yesterday the weather was fantastic the car ran faultless and was quick!

I was impressed with the extra grip the R888s provided over the RS2's I had on at Donington and Castle Combe. The Ferodo DS3000 pads and 4 pots were quite frankly epic, great power and pedal fell all day!

Me and Tim had some great tussles in the afternoon :race:

A couple of poor iPhone pics..

The old girl ticked over to 136,000 miles on the way home

Roll cage, cambelt change, and cams hopefully fitted over the autumn/winter ready for next spring when I hope to do a lot more trackdays :approve:

green rollcage?

what cams are you thinking of fletcher? i though you was going down the itb route?

Maybe I'll go green. However the green diamond is back off again now..lol

The car is due another cambelt change in the next 4k mate. I'll get some cams fitted at the same time. Either cat cam 421s or the new K-tec cams.

The car will also have some ITBs fitted next year

Things are looking Good Fletch! With cams, if your getting ITB's in the not too distant future get some aggresive profile cams. They may not run as well on standard ECU, but when you get your ITB's and management you can map them properly then make lots of POWER! ;)
