Floor hinged accelerator pedal

The same type you will find in nearly every BMW and some Honda's.
Are there any known conversion kits out there to allow this to do be done on the 1*2 (or any other car for that matter) ?

Its not something i've investigated in much depth yet but surely there must be a way for this to be done?

It does make you wonder how some manufacturers think the human foot pivots...

I want to see if the standard pedal set up can be altered to allow a floor mounted pedal face to be retro fitted to the pedal 'stalk' without actually altering the FBW setup. Some have a sort of slide mech on the back of the pedal.

Why? Im not talking about altering the actual pedal unit or position at all, just if there is a way to make the current set up work with a hinged floor mounted pedal face. I.e. remove the existing foot pad and see if it would work in some way with a hinged pedal.

I can't see it being difficult to do.
The only problem I can see is that unless you use a professionally manufactured kit to modify it, your insurance company could use it as a walkaway excuse if you had a bump.

instead of the sliding mech.. where it says original pedal fixing just put a sorta hinge on it.. so it will turn when you put down the pedal..

I love the floor hinged pedal set up, the germans got it spot on, i like the Clio's pedal feel though

not sure that would work though as the top of the pedal would be the part that goes up and down so you couldnt have anything fixed to it other than the hinge unless it moved with the pedal.
im not sure the seating possition in the clio would suit a floor hinge pedal though tbh as you sit quite high up in it.

Lol, yeah no worries mate. The retail price of Ti is mental, but it's so nice to work with and looks beautiful so everything that's going in mine will be titanium.

I'll definitely make up an aluminium one as well. It's still very nice quality Aluminium, aerospace grade, not tacky crap.

I hope you're going to use cadmium free bolts, screws etc on your pedal.

We have a selection of nuts and bolts which we produce ourselves, made from appropriate materials. Just to be 100% sure. No point putting up a great shed with crap nails eh...

I did several modules on material science as part of my motorsport engineering degree so I'm aware of titanium embrittlement

Of course, especially with Brakes! I actually keep a pair of race boots in my car just so I don't have to wear my muddy shoes sad I know, but I love driving in them.

My dad owns a company called south east customs. Based in Sussex and specialises in making bespoke titanium components. Mostly been for race cars/bikes/sidecars thus far but we're branching into the road car Market now.

We also do cylinder head gas flowing and porting. My dad built race engines for motorcycles and then f1 powerboats for about 20 years, up until about 10 years ago. Just getting back to what he loves doing

I'm just learning as far as machining components goes, been at it for about 2 years now but there is an awful lot to learn.

Absolutely, mine's going to have a heavy engraving with blue enamel paint to match the car.

We can also get it laser etched in more or less any colour you wish.

I guess that's the beauty of getting bespoke parts, you're not limited by what the manufacturer thinks will look good.

Spot on. The weight savings you can achieve using titanium are phenomenal... Hence most of our business being in motorsport. We've had a lot of interest from yacht racing teams recently too. I always figured that as a much more niche Market, but it seems not.

Not to be negative here, but why do you want to change Ollie? BMW style accelerators are a pain imo. They aren't the easiest to control the power with. I've driven a few cars, bmw, mini, porche and they all would be better to drive with a conventional pedal.

Alot of the problem is that the throttle pedal is set quite a lot further back than the brake pedal on a Clio. Coupled with the poor throttle response from the fbw, it makes it very difficult ( for me at least) to use the pedals effectively.

Driving my friends new Ctr really decided it for me. Just personal preference I guess.
