Forest Drive in the Trophy

Seeing as the weather was good today I took the Trophy out and had a drive through the local forest. The pics aren't great (I was more interested in the drive today rather than photography) but I thought I'd stick them up anyway. The carbon fibre splitter is looking a bit sorry for itself so I might attempt to refurb it myself in the next week or two. What could possibly go wrong?!?! :D

LOL at the photo's aren't very good! They are awesome mate :) Car's looking very nice! Good to see it working well and being used properly :)
LOL! Cheers, mate - glad you like the photos. Seriously though... today was about driving, not photography, hence they were taken without much thought! But yes, it's great to be out in the T again and to be able to enjoy it. The sound of those bodies bouncing back off the trees was great. I'm such a chav...

Nice car! and yeah like above the photos are really good, I like the photo second from last :)
Cheers, fella - glad you like them. :D

Great car AND photo's! Looks like some nice roads round that way!
Yes, mate - absolutely spoilt for great roads around here. Even more so when it's not raining!

Yeah, they do look a bit "toy car" due to the depth of field!

To be honest mate the car has been running 99% perfectly. I still have minor oil leak issues and I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting excessive pressure build up in the engine that is causing them... might have to get that checked out. I'm also getting the odd misfire but I suspect that may be due to my accident with the heavy rain and exposed coil pack a month or two back. I'll be getting a new pack and leads soon anyway. In terms of the sound... mate, it's awesome! The newer filter solution made a massive difference in terms of the sound and, importantly, more power through the mid-range and top end. Whereas the old filter was sucked onto the trumpets and thus restricted the air flow, the new system maintains a nice gap around the trumpets and the air flowing nicely. I do need to get hold of a synchrometer soon as the bodies are in need of balancing but nothing major thankfully.

Not too shabby mate.
Cheers fella. :D

Looks good mate, nice to see you actually getting to use it. Bet it is a lot of fun!!!
Hi keechy - it's great to be out and enjoying it, especially when the weather is like this! In terms of fun I'm enjoying it more now than when I first bought it. A fantastic little car! I hope you're getting out and enjoying the lower-slung Cooper S... :D

Fantastic pics mate, the T looks great! Those roads look fun too :D
Thanks Jimbo. The roads were (surprisingly) quiet too which made the whole thing even more enjoyable.

Definitely the sort of roads that the Renaultsport Clio was designed for! I have a feeling that the Trophy will be adding a serious amount of miles over the summer... :D

Lucky b*****d living with those kind of roads as your "local" forest :)
Heh heh! Ok, so perhaps they aren't that local... I had to drive about 3 miles to get there... ;)

Wow, looks great Andy. Some of the best roads in the country down that way :(
Yep - this is Trophy country (or indeed Renaultsport Clio Country). Perhaps. Plenty of jobs and relocation options if you're interested... LOL!

Good pics mate cars looking so good ! And them roads look like alot of fun !
Cheers fella. The next time I have a party I'll invite CS and we can all go and enjoy the roads. :D To be honest, the road pictured has dedicated stop-off points with stone-built barbecues ready for the public to use. Might have to see if people are interested in a summer BBQ / get together. Plenty for the keen mountain biker, too, with miles of trails and downhill courses. Hmm...

LOL I realise it's probably quick with ITB's but that would require being in two places at once! First picture for me, let us know how you get on with the K-tec splitter as mine is beginning to go cloudy as well.

Lovely pics.

Kind of depressing though... Here I am staring at the clear blue skies through the windows of the office... Wishing I was outside. Preferably driving through country like that. In an ITB'd Trophy.

Cwmcarn?

Nice pics.
Cheers Matt - and yes, you're spot on. I quite literally have this beautiful place as my back garden. :D

LOL! Yeah, it's fairly rapid but not quite that quick! With regards the splitter, I would have probably had a go at refurbishing it by now if I weren't such a pussy. The thing holding me back is that I might make a right mess of it... I'll probably pop over to a local friend (who's a professional detailer) and get his advice before I start.

Lovely pics.

Damn - I hate that. But you have to look at the positives fella! You're sat in the office which suggests you are working, and working suggests you are earning the pennies. Your time out of the office will come... :D (Did that help?)

Awesome mate love the first few shots in the forest.
Cheers mate - thanks for the reply.

Cheers James. If you are down this way then by all means drop me a line. :D

Great shots Andy. Car looks immaculate as usual!
In all honesty the paintwork on the front is in really bad condition due to the gazillion stone chips. I've just been a bit crafty and stood far enough away so that the camera doesn't pick too many of them up! LOL! :D Apart from that and the pink-ing door handles she still scrubs up well. Thanks for the reply mate.

Nice car and photos! Thought it looked like Cwmcarn too - I have done a few laps on my MTB there, lovely place:)

Isn't there a speed limit of like 10mph on the forest drive though? And the fact you have to pay for it :(

Thanks fella. It seems a very popular place for MTB'ers and quite a few local friends are up there most weekends. Cheers for the reply.

The aptly name "Forest Drive" route has a 15mph speed limit and, yes, costs £5 per car (it is managed/maintained by the Welsh Forestry Commission). For some higher-speed thrills you have to look at some of the other nearby routes with NSL that make for entertaining drives. In my opinion it's worth the £5 unless you are purely looking for a balls-to-the-wall blast (which isn't to be recommended on the "Forest Drive"...!)

Looks great Andy.
Cheers, Fletch! :D

Looking awesome, enjoying driving it now with things sorted and *touches wood* things fixed?
Absolutely loving it at the moment, mate. :D Even the drive home from work late this evening had me grinning like a loon! LOL! I've just changed the oil, oil filter, brake fluid, new pads, new discs and cleaned the ITB's filter and she's flying. The new brake combo is also surprisingly effective (first time I've used Brembo HC's with DS2500's). It's all good at the moment... keep touching that wood (that sounds dodgy...). Cheers buddy! :D

Stunning pics as usual Andy. Glad to see that you are actually out driving the Trophy after all you've been through with that car. Hope all was fine with it afterwards,
Thanks, Pete. It's great to be out and enjoying it rather than thumbing a lift off someone or borrowing my better half's Type-R. There are still a few little issues but nothing I'm too concerned about. These can be addressed the next time I get work done. In the meantime I'm planning on putting a few more miles on the T and enjoying each and every one of 'em! :D
