Found out why i had massive wheelspin with new tyres!

  BMW 330d :)
I had stupidly had new tyres fitted at the renault garage when my car was in getting looked at, and I was wondering why I was getting loads of wheelspin from the lights with hardly any throttle!

I went to the garage to check the pressures, and found they were at 38 psi!

They are normally at 32!

I realise they need to pump them up high to check the tyre is sealed to the rim but you would think they would let it back down to the same pressure again!

On the plus side they dont seem to have marked my alloys so it aint all bad!

when tyres are new theyre coated in some s**t.. which makes them slippy.. should take it easy for first 50mile or so.

Yeah I noticed that when some kn*b stepped out in front of me the other night! I dont think these tyres will last long! LOL

In the winter i tend to let 2-3psi out of the tyre as opposed to summer pressures to allow for wet roads, slippery conditions.

just checked mine, the fronts are only at 27psi

gonna go to local garage, pump them up to about 35, let them cool and set them down to 30/28

im not running the crappy pe2's though ;)

always check them when they're cold & remember to take it easy for the first 100 miles of so.
Letting a couple of lb's out (as ozzyo said) isn't a bad idea either.

  172
factory suggests 2.7bar at front and 2.2bar rear for a CUP

I use the same on my big fat with pe2's and can't fault them

Cheers for the advice guys, I'll give some of the pressure suggestions a shot. Oh and the tyres were cold when i measured the pressures.

Oh and I found out that the 172 cup and 182 cup/trophy's alloys are exactly the same width so if I wanted to I could have fitted the wider tyres instead of the 195's that I got put on! Damn!!
