So I'm going to purchase a new tv in the "sales". Probably going to get an LG smart Tv that's currently 429 Currys which is a bargain IMO.

But it has no built in recorder so what if any are the recommendations?

Don't reaaly want to spend that much ideally as it won't get that much use

On my LG smart tv you can plug in a 2.5inch portable hard drive and all the software is built in for live pause, rewind and scheduled recording. You just can't watch one thing whilst recording another, which kinda sucks.

Can record things with the tv 'off' though.

Yeah that's what I thought you could do which is why I wanted a normal recorder for that purpose

Either youview or a humax pvr are the best IMO.

Not sure how much they are, but you want decent, you gotta pay for it.

Humax, I have an HDR-FOX T2, very good system, I read reviews before buying and made the right choice
